momo24 Posted October 10, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2010 We booked a cabin on deck 8 on the NCL Dawn right in the forward section just before the life boats. I saw a picture of the ship and it looks like they are all port holes built into the ship and not regular balconies. Can someone answer me about this who has been on the ship before. I am looking for a regular balcony for my cruise.
Rare Essiesmom Posted October 10, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 10, 2010 You are more likely to get a speedy answer if you post this on the NCL board here at CC. It is located toward the top of the boards page, under Cruise Lines A-O. EM

Most of what you see as portholes on 8 are not passenger cabins at all.

njhorseman Posted October 11, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 11, 2010 I believe the Deck 8 balcony cabins on the Dawn are of the type referred to as "in hull" or "sheltered". They are balconies, but they are contained within the ship's superstructure and thereby have a view that is somewhat limited compared to a fully open balcony. I suggest, as did an earlier poster, that you ask this question on the NCL board, because you're more likely to get an answer from someone who has actually stayed in that type of cabin.
