Inoculations

We have also had typhoid. You really are best advised to ask your practice nurse; tell them which islands you are visiting, they will have the up-to-date advice from the Department of Health and can carry out any vaccinations required. Ours doesn't even charge for the prescription to replace their stocks.

If you are a blood donor you may be refused for several months after your return from some islands (Jamaica was one for Paul).

Going this weekend and had to have tetanus booster, which now only comes with Polio and something else that now lasts a lifetime, but apart from that no others were needed. Made my arm ache for about 3 days though, probably just a bit soft! You need to have it a minimum of 5 weeks before you travel. It was free from our GP surgery, just made an appt. with the practice nurse.

Welcome to the forum, just a suggestion, think about changing your user name before you start to get unwanted emails. :)

There are no mandatory innoculations required but those like tetanus, hepatitis, typhoid etc may be recommended or need a booster. Best see you GP practice nurse and they will give you their recommendations based on where you are going and your medical history.

Please can anyone tell me what it says about innoculations in the brochure for Azura Christmas cruise. I went green.... stupidly...which means no brochure and no info on vaccinations in green version.

They only tend to list the mandatory ones so would not be much use anyway. Go and see the professionals, the pactice nurse with your GP, give them your itinery, and they will advise.

The holiday information books are not sent out until six weeks before departure, so if you phone P&O to revoke your GO GREEN, they will send you one. Have your P&O booking ref to quote. The book also contains the proper personalised luggage labels that dont rip, so worth having.
