wblynch Posted February 22, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2005 Hi All, We recently booked a Thanksgiving cruise on the Oosterdam. This will be our first time on Holland America. Looking at the deck plans at our TA's website, it appears that there are no jogging tracks on the Vista class ships. Is that correct? If not, is there a pathway that encircles the ship? We like to walk briskly 5 to 10 "laps" each day and I'm surprised if there is no accomodation for walkers/joggers. Thank you all, Bill .
Krazy Kruizers Posted February 22, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2005 On the Vista class ships the walking and jogging track is on the Promenade Deck. It does circle the entire ship. And we have seen people jogging by the dining room while we were having dinner on both the Oosterdam and Westerdam.
wblynch Posted February 22, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted February 22, 2005 Thanks, I feel relieved now. I have read many posts here that Holland-America is not geared towards activity the way RCCL and Carnival are. I sure hope there's SOMEthing to do besides just eat wonderfully prepared and served food. Thank you, Bill. .
sail7seas Posted February 22, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 22, 2005 Three times around the Promenade Deck = one mile. Unfortunately, Vista ships permit jogging on this deck. None of the other style HAL ships permit jogging on Promenade. We are 'fast' walkers and always walk Promendade Deck. It's not nearly as pleasant walking when joggers are bumping /pushing us aside. doone Posted February 22, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 22, 2005 Don't worry, there is always something to do on the ship. I find if you are bored on a cruise, any cruise line, then its your own fault. Enjoy your cruise.
