Before or after cruise activities - Ft Lauderdale

We'll be in Ft Lauderdale a day before our cruise in January and a day after. We like outdoor activites or active cruises (snorkling or dinner/show) or similar but not laying on the beach or taking a sightseeing tour. We do you recommend?

If you have enough time, you could drive down to Key Largo to snorkel at

Pennekamp State Park. Really good snorkeling and not a terribly long drive. http://www.pennekamppark.com/snorkeling.html

within 20 miles of Ft Lauderdale:

shows/opera, etc. at Broward Center for Performing Arts

concert at Mizner Park, Pompano Amphitheatre or Bank Atlantic Center

parasail, boat rental/charter, waverunner rental

stroll Las Olas Blvd. and the river

fishing at Anglin's pier

There are about 20 wrecks and snorkeling sites 1/2 mile off Fort Lauderdale beach. Absolutely no need to drive to Key Largo.
