Jacksonville Hotels

First of all I apologise because I know this has been asked before, but when I did a search I couldn't find the thread. I'm looking for an inexpensive hotel/motel for a pre-cruise night's stay. We won't be getting into Jacksonville until late on the night before our cruise and we don't want to spend a lot for a place we're only going to be at a few hours. All I care about is clean and somewhere close to where the ships dock would be nice.

Thanks for any help!

Are you driving to Jacksonville? If so, do want a hotel that will allow you to park your car there while you are on the cruise? Parking at the pier costs $10. per day. For two weeks its $140. Knowing this info will help us in finding a hotel for you.

I recommend my friend Bina at Wingate..you will get some different opinions from others about her but she has always been kind and generous to me.

Hi guys - We are driving down from Atlanta. This is not for a Celebrity cruise, we had to change our Inspiration cruise to the Jubilee which leaves from Jacksonville. I know I could have asked on the Carnival board, but this one is more my "home". Anyway, we would like somewhere that would let us leave the cars (there are 8 of us we're taking 2 cars), and we may want to stay the night after the cruise, but I'm not sure about that yet. THanks for any advise/help.

Hi,

We stayed at the Wingate. It cost $104 plus tax. This was for a one night stay including parking your car for the length of the cruise and for the van to and from the hotel to the cruise ship. We were very happy with this because it was cheaper that us parking our car at the peir. The hotel was beautiful and Bina was very nice and helpful.

We are looking at the Adams Mark Hotel at Riverwalk. Has anyone stayed here? We will be flying in, so parking isn't an issue and we want to explore the city a little bit. Good choice?? Our cruise isn't until next March, but the planning is a bit of the fun of a cruise, right??

hi I live here but haven't been inside it...though it is supposed to be quite nice.
Another option is the Omni(which I have been in many times). It is also downtown. (One block over from the River)..you just go outside, and cross the street...there is the St Johns...
If I can help further...let me know.

Lois - I just got off the phone with Bina, she's sure had a rough time of it lately! I booked our rooms for our pre-cruise stay, thanks for all your help. Even though the prices have gone up, we got the old price thanks to your help!!

I just stayed at then Fairfield about 2 doors down from Wingate. Very nice and clean, good breakfast. You can leave your car up to 14 nights and they have security. They don't have a shuttle but I called Citi Cab which has the contract at the Port. I called the night before and arranged a cab for 10:30 am the next day. Approx cost is $11.50 for whoever fits in cab (coming back 3 of us shared cab for same price plus extra tip for so much luggage). They also have a van which runs on a meter and is a MUCH better deal than the shuttle. Also when we got to the port it was before 11am and they were stopping the shuttles but they asked if cab was on meter and when we said yes they sent us on thru. Cost of room was $59 + tax for over 62, $69 regular price. Samantha who works in afternoon is GREAT!

Until the Zenith! Second X Cruise In Two Months!

Lois, Please don't take this in any personal context because the only thing you did was to be helpful to all of us cruising out of Jax. which was very much appreciated. We especially appreciated the advance notice about Ruby Tuesdays being in walking distance.

Teedees' post is just an example of why we didn't like the Wingate. Different prices for different people. I don't appreciate paying more than the person in the next room. We all love a bargain of any kind and I'm the first one to be happy for the person getting a bargain but not when I'm paying more for the same item.

Tip, Never discuss your cruise price with other passengers.

Hi BT..and don't take it personally back...

I didn't know the price had gone up when I emailed Teedee...when I called Bina, she honared the price I had said it was...
Again, I am so sorry your experience was less than satisfactory.

I know you will find another hotel as there were a stream of them along "Airport Road".
