SAFES onboard...

Recommended Posts

All of the newer ships have keypad safes, where you enter your own combination.

I sailed on the Majesty in December and had the keypad safe (OV room). I sailed this past weekend again on the Majesty and had one of the safes where you swiped your room key (JR Sutie). (Not sure what happens if they have to re-key your room)

Most of the safes in the staterooms are a 4-digit code you can re-program once you enter your room. Instructions should be there. If by chance you forget your code or you jam the lock (which we've done), all you have to do is call the service desk and they will have someone open it for you. They're not large, so if you are looking to put in a laptop or large bags, you won't be able to use them. Perfect for passports, wallets and small purses.

Hope this helps!

If you do have a safe that uses a magnetic strip, you are encouraged NOT to use your room key. Anything with a magnetic strip will work. We've use an insurance card or an expired gift certificate. It does not have to be anything of value like your credit cards or the room key.
