Solo Cruise....Any Suggestions?

Hello!

I've been lurking for awhile and have only cruised once on the Norway, a long long time ago. My hubby & I are booked on the Dawn on March 6th (5 day western carribbean) and he'll be in classes on the days we're at sea.

I don't like laying in the sun, bingo, art auctions etc...Does anyone have any suggestions for solo activities on days we're at sea?

Thanks in advance!!

:)

Read the Freestyle Daily, they will have activities listed, games (non-bingo), triiva, crafts (at least on the transatlantic) and LOTS of music ALL over the ship.

I would get involved with the ROLL CALL and hook up there with people, perhaps plan a CC luncheon or dinner, read read, there are places out on the deck that are not in the sun (I know because I tend to avoid sunshine).

If you are proactive about doing things and getting involved with things that are offered by the activities crew you wont' really be bored.

The spa! Take a walk through it during embarkation and see if you want the week pass or day pass. Perhaps you would enjoy a massage or other treatment while hubby is in class. If you do not want to pay for it, then sitting in a lounger on the promenade is a nice area out of the sun. Not sure if your "etc" includes seminars but the freestyle daily should have some other activities going on. Sometimes I will walk the entire ship from top to bottom, end to end, both sides, and see what's to be seen along the way. If you can not find it in the Freestyle Daily, just create your own. Have a great cruise,

I''m thinking a spa day to really pamper yourself, and also bring books, and maybe an iPod or some such thing....

Slots tournament in the casino or other form of gambling

read

nap on deck

watch the ocean go by

play solitaire

take along a hand held video game

get a spa treatment

take along nail polish and do your own nails

go to the buffet, grab something to eat, and ask someone that's alone if you could share their table and chat about the cruise, shore excursions etc. (I do that all the time)

nap in your cabin

walk the decks

sit at the bar and chat with the bar staff over a coke or other refreshment take a class

go to a lecture

browse the gift shop

take "artsy" pictures of the ship

get your hair done

explore all the nooks and crannies

watch ice carving and fruit carving demo's

go to the gym and work out

check out the photos in the photo gallery for goofy photos

take along needlepoint or other hand craft

check out the game room and join a game

Be sure and read the freestyle daily since all sorts of activities are listed there.

Remember that no-one knows you on the ship so it's ok to step out of your comfort zone (they will never see you again!) Don't be afraid to say hi and start a conversation with someone! Since your husband is on business there are probably other spouses in the same situation as you and they would probably love to have someone to hang out and chat with. Have a wonderful trip!
