no signal

i have just been on the web site sailwx.info and it says that it hasnt picked up a signal since sunday does any body know of another web site which says she is sailing

Last signal was this afternoon, since leaving Setabul she had 2 days of sigal then went off the chart, then this afternoon briefly she was shown just outside Tenerife then nothing slightly strange :confused:

Two reasons for disappearing of the map:

 

1) AIS transponder not transmitting (i.e. technical issues)

2) Shore-based AIS transponder not receiving

 

Unlikely to be 1) as there are redundant systems onboard (albeit slightly different technology)

Most likely 2). Look at the map for S.C de Tenerife and there is clearly something up - noy many vessels and quite a few with duff AIS data: http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/default.aspx?level0=100

In fact, looking at the AIS receiver data you can see that it is offline:

this is not unusual as the receiving stations are usually private individuals or companies who do not get paid. Perhaps the owner has gone to Tescos :D

Signal on Marine Traffic is back up.

 

It looks like the Captain has been on shore leave and the crew have taken her for an overnight joy ride :p
