Miami---Transfers or taxi?

Haven't booked my cruise yet...still in the planning phase. Thinking of taking the Valor out of Miami. We would arrive at about 12:30am on the day of the cruise, so we would likely get a priceline hotel near the airport for the night. I have never cruised out of Miami, so would those of you with experience recommend the Carnival transfers from the airport in the morning or taking a taxi?

There are only 2 of us and we will likely fill a taxi trunk with luggage. Which option is more cost effective? Which would allow us easier access to the port...meaning can the buses drive right up rather than waiting in line like a taxi? Which provides a smoother beginning to our vacation?

Thanks so much for your help in advance!

Never!

The taxi will be cheaper, plus you do not have to wait for them to fill up the bus. You hail a cab and go.

Ugh, don't do the transfers! We did that on our first cruise...big mistake! Now we hire a limo for the same price (we have a big family). If you are at all worried that a taxi is too small for your luggage, don't worry. They will radio for a taxi van for you.

We'll be picking up a rental car adjacent MIA airport upon return to port. Taxi seems to be the best way to get to the car rental place. Anyone know the price for that trip? Also, how much should we tip the driver? I've never taken taxis on my own, so really have no idea!

Thanks in advance from a first-timer!
