ricok987 Posted March 23, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2011 Hi: I am sailing in May on a cruise out of San Juan Puerto Rico. The ship official board time is 2 PM but I was told people are usually allowed on the ship from 12 noon. My question: when exactly are you allowed in your cabin? On HAL, and Carnival they say you can not access your cabins until at least 1:30 PM but I was always able to sneak into my cabin before that. Will I be able to do so on Princess? This is important to me becuase the answer will dictate what volume I take in my carry on VS what I would check. If I could go right to my room I would pack 50 lbs, but if I had to lug that around for several hours I would pack 5 lbs!

Times Prince Posted March 23, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 23, 2011 While we have always been able to go directly to the cabin, there have been occasions where the steward has not fully completed cabin cleaning and preparation. They have always been receptive to us leaving our hand luggage, and even using the safe for valuables. But keep in mind the door may remain open while he/she is preparing the set of cabins
paul929207 Posted March 23, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 23, 2011 Princess has the cabins ready when they start boarding. We are often in our cabin before noon.
ricok987 Posted March 23, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted March 23, 2011 Thanks-once on board I plan on taking the elevator to the Lido Deck, grab a drink then walk 1 flight down to the Riviera Deck to dump my bag, and then run back up to grab some lunch. This way my checked bag will not have to be over-packed with stuff. Then, maybe my clothes won't be as wrinkled as they usually get!
