CamelliaCity Posted March 15, 2005 #51 Share Posted March 15, 2005 and I love animation and all the other fun things and fun people here:D but....I think a lot of us are here for Roll Call...to get to know people you'll be cruising with. Can't say I've saved any money by being here (actually has cost hubbie lots of $$$$ with me being on here;) ) There are lots of 'free' boards that posters can migrate to/ YAHOO. I'm on a free private (have to join) ALASKA board on Yahoo. I'm probably the biggest 'abuser' of animation:eek: . I suggest we play around a little. For 24 hours, no animation and no clocks-nothing that *moves* or *wiggles* I bet you'll see a big ole major difference. I have NOT spent much time on the boards because they were driving me nutz, but today, without the clocks, they are flying. I've NOT had one slow moment:D I'm cool with paying a small 'fee' IF it would improve things.
RichardK Posted March 15, 2005 #52 Share Posted March 15, 2005 There are considerations to be made........ Remember the three (3)rules of business: #1: There's "The Boss": Cruise Critic is part of an online travel network owned, operated and published by The Independent Traveler, Inc., a privately held New Jersey Corporation. Cruise Critic's sister site is The Independent Traveler. #2: Server needs to be upgraded or replaced. #3: Who is going to pay for that, and whose budget (salary) is that coming out of?? They'll work it out in time.............hopefully??
mii Posted March 15, 2005 #53 Share Posted March 15, 2005 Hi: I do have a question. I do not pretend to be a technical person but would removing PAST roll call boards be a help. Since they changed the format the roll calls go back April 1, 2004. I went into a number of cruise line roll calls and you would not believe the pages. Carnival had 63, Princess had 43. Now that does included right up to the present. But if you removed old roll call boards up maybe about 1 month after the cruise date would that help. Most of the roll calls after a cruise goes up to roll call heaven. Just a thought. Marilyn
