somanyquestions Posted May 3, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2011 Hi - first cruise with a toddler, a couple of questions: Cruising on Independence of the Seas in August Can we request milk in the MDR - can they warm it? Are there nappy changing facilities on board? Any tips would be welcome! Thank you
RoadTripFanatic Posted May 3, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 3, 2011 I would recommend taking your child back to the cabin for Diaper Changes. It's much easier than trying to find a spot on the ship. :) Yes, they will give your child milk in the main dinning room. I used to request it all the time with dessert. cb at sea Posted May 4, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2011 They can warm it in the dining room, and if you need to warm it in your cabin, you can run the hot water, and put it in the sink to warm...the water is quite hot! It will do the job.
somanyquestions Posted May 4, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted May 4, 2011 Thanks for answers so far - will they be able to provide milk?
rebeccalouiseagain Posted May 4, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2011 yes they will provide milk. My question is why would you need to warm milk? I've heard of warming formula but by the time they switch to milk they don't need it heated.

mjkacmom Posted May 5, 2011 #9 Share Posted May 5, 2011 I think cruise ships are not well equiped with places to change diapers. I don't know why a toddler would need warm milk? Just pour some into a sippy.
Seraphine Posted May 6, 2011 #10 Share Posted May 6, 2011 I think cruise ships are not well equiped with places to change diapers. I don't know why a toddler would need warm milk? Just pour some into a sippy. My daughter still protests at drinking cold milk from a bottle. Cold milk in a sippy is fine, but at bedtime, she wants a warmed bottle. Ideally, get your child to learn to take cold milk, but I understand wanting to keep the peace (especially on holiday!) OP, don't worry, you can get warm milk easily enough. As far as nappy changes, learn to change her on your lap, and just use a regular stall. Always bring scented diaper disposal bags for getting rid of the diaper (these will really keep the smell at bay). Yes, changes in your room is the easiest, but isn't always possible. We cruised when our daughter was 19/20 months, and it was pretty easy. You'll do fine!

Thank you -yes my daughter is the same, cold milk in a sippy during the day is fine - try this at night and it's a whole other story - needs to be a bottle and warm!
