martinimadam Posted June 3, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2011 On HAL, will there be formal nights through the Panama Canal? I'm on a 14 day through transit. Someone I spoke with, who took this cruise last year, said there weren't any formal nights??? I'm also a little concerned, if there are formal nights, that my outfits will be too warm to wear.... CtheW0rld Posted June 3, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2011 there will, allegedly, be air conditioning inside the ship. you should be comfortable in formal wear there.
sail7seas Posted June 3, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2011 A 14 day cruise on HAL ships usually calls for 4 formal nights.
martinimadam Posted June 3, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted June 3, 2011 Thanks for your responses. It's just that this friend of mine went on HAL recently on a San Diego - Fort Lauderdale- San Diego trip and claimed there were no formal nights????? Thought I'd just check if the Panama Canal cruises were different.
Rare kazu Posted June 3, 2011 #5 Share Posted June 3, 2011 Thanks for your responses. It's just that this friend of mine went on HAL recently on a San Diego - Fort Lauderdale- San Diego trip and claimed there were no formal nights????? Thought I'd just check if the Panama Canal cruises were different. We were on the Panama last year and there were definitely formal nights. Mind you, if your friend decided to go to the Lido they could skip them. we were fine on our ship - not too hot - there were no problems:D

Krazy Kruizers Posted June 4, 2011 #7 Share Posted June 4, 2011 Yes -- on the 14 day Panama Canal cruise there will be 4 formal nights. Sounds as though your friends skipped the formal nights and went to the Lido.
martinimadam Posted June 4, 2011 Author #8 Share Posted June 4, 2011 Yes, they may have just eaten in the Lido most nights. They're pretty active, and may not have wanted to spend the time it takes (which I look forward to) to dine in the main dining room. I'm so happy there will be 4 formal nights. I just love them!
