Panama Canal - West to East Coast - Port or Starboard?

RC - thanks for explaining it. I had looked it up on a map, but it was rotated wrong, so I missed it. As you mentioned, Google Maps worked great.

As an old site location anaylst I need to get these things right in my head or it drives me crazy! I hate it when maps are not oriented with North being the top of the page.

I will go with starboard - for the reasons you mention plus the sunsets for most of the cruise.

You do NOT want to plant yourself on your balcony...you need to be roaming the ship, and see all things from all angles/sides/deck levels! If you stay in one place, you will miss about 80% of which you've paid dearly to see!

And a note about sunsets....if the sun is shining on you, it will be oven-hot....Panama isn't far off the equator....heat and humidity is rampant!
