Location of the cabin is really perfect. Its midship but just past the aft elevators. So down to 2-3 for the dining room or up to Lido on Deck 9 for the Unicorn Cafe. Its between two passenger decks so it is super quiet.

As I said before it was an extended balcony. The extended balconies on Spirit class ships are set in. Having been on the Victory many years ago, finding your room can be a challenge as its just one long hall. On the spirit class ships the hallways, go in and out. Although the ships are longer and thinner, the don't seem as huge. Its pretty easy to find your room.

From the balcony you look down and can see the lifeboats, if you don't look straight down you never know they are there.

Here are some views as captured from the balcony.

The good and the not so good.

I love the decor of the ship. Its dark and classy. There is art everywhere. Yes it's Joe Farcus, but it is Farcus with class. There isn't much neon, if any. There are urns, everywhere is an Urn. Even all the art, AND THERE IS A BOAT LOAD OF IT, pun intended, is framed in dark frames with you guessed it urns. I like the urns. After awhile you don't even notice all the urns. Interestingly enough on one of the channels one day Joe was explaining all the art on the ship and its legend motif. Being a fan of ancient Greek art, the urns make sense. But he decorated the ship in other legends. Satchmo's Bar - now one of the smoking rooms. The old jazz club, except Carnival doesn't have jazz bands anymore. Always uncrowded, we found us there often and my sister nicknamed it Satchi's. All over the walls are pictures of Louis Armstrong. It looks a lot like a club that you would find in New Orleans.

Great review! I'm on the Legend in September, cabin 6230, just down the hall from yours, so your explanation about the life boats was right on target, I was worried about that.

Thanks so much for the comprehensive review. I always say I'll take notes during the cruise and write one, then get in vacation mode once on board and just relish being on a cruise!

I said I'd take notes too. However, I forgot to do it. I'm going completely on memory which is why I'm trying to write as much as I can now.

I can't believe it you had cabin 6222, which is what I'll have in October.

Thank you for all the info.

The review is great so far. :D

Its a great cabin, you'll love it. No flatscreen yet. Hopefully you'll have it by the time you sail. You have to turn the TV on by pressing the button on TV. After that the remote works just fine, but it has seen better days.

As I may have said before, I was on this ship before two years ago. I'll take you back to my time on the ship then. We sailed the same time of the year. As it's July there are lots of kids. So to avoid all the kiddos, we spent almost all of our lido time on the Aft lido pool area. This place was great, an adult only pool, a bar open until 4 a.m., a place to smoke cigarettes, a place to enjoy the cuban cigar you procured in Roatan or Grand Cayman (which are apparently the only two places on this itinerary you are able to be sure to get a real Cuban) or just sit in the great but very small pool and deck. Not a problem finding a place spend the day. Well all of that has changed.

This is now the Serenity Deck. For those who enjoy the hammocks, the two person clamshell chairs, the comfy padded lounge chairs, here is your place. There is some pretty cool couches in the shaded area as well. So why did I only spend 30 minutes out there? Too damn crowded. Too many people in the pool. And lets just say the pool water was less than clear. I'm a smoker, no flaming please. What was once my favorite place IMHO is now just a poor use of space now. Having loved it so much last time at night too, we decided to go back there again to grab a drink around 11 pm one night. To my surprise it was dead. Why was it dead with over 2600 people on the ship? The bar was closed, what????!!!! Oh well, back to the main lido area, where we can have a drink, a few cigarettes.

I'm going to touch the much debated smoking issue. I certainly founded many places to have a cigarette without a problem - my balcony, Satchmo's, the smoking side of the lido, and certain tables and areas in the casino. In the casino it was a pain when you were on a certain machine that allowed smoking you had to finish your cigarette for fear you may walk to a machine that does not allow smoking.

One of my favorite places has always been the piano bar, now that it is smoke free I didn't go there once. I wanted to go but when walking by one night my sister said, oh Janice is rolling in her grave on that one, we decided the piano bar wouldn't be visited this cruise.

We did see the piano player on the lido deck one day, I didn't realize it was the piano player at first. I was saying to myself, why are they doing karaoke (and bad at that) on the lido deck? LizL, the piano player, did have a fan that day, a very drunk man, who interpretive danced out all the songs for us on the lido deck. He was especially funny when he spilled his drink, picked it up and drank what little must have been left of the drink to cheers from the crowd. Apparently it was LizL's first week, not sure what happened to the piano player "H" who was supposed to be on the cruise. If anyone knows what happened I'd be curious to know because I had heard good things about him before the cruise.

For those non-smokers that find they need to walk through the smoking side of the lido holding their nose the whole time, just go to the other side, you look ridiculous.

More Sports bar pictures, but before I forget, there is ThirstyFrog Red in the sports bar, I noticed it when walking through, but forgot to go back to get some.

Dox,

There were three young kids on the balcony. I'm not sure if the dad stayed home or there is no dad. We saw them at M'ville in GC, no man was seen with them.

It is almost painful to be back. Thanks!

Oh she had small kids at M'ville too ? Real classy that one. No way would I have taken my son there when he was little.

I know it's hard to be bacl to reality and day to day stuff...but I guess I'm strange I am glad to be back home after a vacation.

Great review so far Pommee!!! And the pics are fabulous! I so love the Legend (urns and all). I am still sad about that Serenity area...I probably spent 80% of my cruise (day & nite) out there...was the perfect place. Won't be doing it now that it's non-smoking and the bar closes early (what's up with that?!?!). Suprised to hear it was crowded now that they have so few places to sit:confused:

Soldier on...we're loving it!:)

Makes no sense to me either. It was the only place to be before on Lido. Now, not so much. Regular lido is still doable though.

Great review so far and I'm looking forward to the rest!! The kids next door...wow. I'm really glad you reported them. That would have been hard to put up with all week and also very dangerous! Thanks for taking the time to post all the pics too - I love pics!!
