Thomson Cruises

When we first started cruising we used to do a Thomson cruise every year, and thorougly enjoyed them.

The last few years though, we've done cruises with NCL, Princess, great cruises, huge ships etc etc, sometimes though it just seems to be money money money with those firms.

Cant make up my mind what to do next year, love the "all inclusive...drinks package" with Thomsons, value for money etc etc..... on the other hand love the luxury of the bigger newer boats that other firms offer.....

on the downside, the Thomson boats are a bit small and outdated, but still very British...the last few cruises i have been on, it has been mostly Americans....very loud, but polite......

so help needed...lol , what do i do next year, everybodys thoughts...

Try P&O, still British guests, and onboard costs ie. drinks, tips, photos are alot cheaper than the American lines. We've cruised twice with Princess, once with Royal Caribbean and just come back from our first P&O cruise.

I rate the P&O cruise as good as, if not slighty better than our Princess cruises, and considerably better than Royal Caribbean. We are on a Celebrity cruise in November, and that is suppose to be a step up again and expensive onboard costs.

We've sailed Thomson for the itinerary.....a break in the Red Sea in Feb works wonders, and it's not too long a flight. It's a very popular one round here, as folk have a choice of airports to fly from. We stay with relatives, and go from Doncaster- quiet and modern.

We've no problems with NCL or Princess, except for the ones you mention- the constant pushing for paying activities. Once you learn to ignore these, they're fine!

We prefer the big ships of P&O at the moment, and might try Indy from Southampton this winter.

We thought we were immune even celerity pushes stuff

Then went on Azamara where it is hard to spend any money, nothing is pushed and most stuff included anyway, we then realised how bad it had got on the other cruise lines.

Some days you only get your card out to get into your room.
