Departing from Port Canaveral

We will be cruising on the Sun in February,2012. This will be our first cruise from Port Canaveral. We will be flying into Orlando the day before departure. My question is do we rent a car or hope the hotel has a shuttle available? Also can anyone recommend a hotel in Cocoa Beach or Port Canaveral?

A number of years ago we went out of the Cape and stayed at a Radisson. WE drove to the cruise and left our car at the hotel for no charge, and they provided a shuttle both ways. I looked up the March 2012 rates and they are about $125.00 to $150.00 a night

The hotel is below. I hope this help, George and Louise in Sun City Huntley Illinois

Cape Canaveral Hotel Offers Easy Access to Cruise Terminals

The Radisson Resort at the Port is one of the closest hotels near Port Canaveral cruise ship terminals. Our Cape Canaveral hotel's amenities include a free form, heated, outdoor waterfall pool, a poolside Tiki Bar and a lighted tennis court. Our park and cruise packages offer free shuttle service to your cruise ship and free parking while on your cruise if needed—a great value. Guests at our Cape Canaveral hotel also enjoy easy access to Cocoa Beach, Orlando and nearby shopping and attractions. When you choose the Radisson Resort at the Port, you'll see what sets us apart from other Cape Canaveral hotels.

It is a very easy drive from the Orlando airport (MCO) to the Port.....one 4 lane highway all the way (called the 'Beachline'). It will take you roughly one hour. There are many hotels in the Cape Canaveral area (the city where the port is located). The Radisson is close to the port and offers a free shuttle service to the ship (http://www.radisson.com/cap.e-canaveral-hotel-fl-32920/flcocoa/services). There are several places you can drop off a rental car in the area (Budget, Hertz, Dollar, Thrifty, & Avis are all in the area).

Hope this helps!

we prefer after our flight to let someone else doing the driving...

last December we stayed at the Radisson and used Beachline Transportation.

this year we will be staying at the Comfort Inn at Cocoa Beach and using their Fly, Snooze & Cruise pkg (one-way)

they will pick us up at MCO take us to the hotel and the next day they will take us to the port--we will be taking a post-cruise excursion and they will take us to MCO for the flight home.

None of the Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral hotels have a free shuttle from the Orlando Airport. There are shuttles available but for a fee and those fees/rates vary wildly. Many people do one way rental cars from the airport and the car rental rates are most times cheaper than hiring a shuttle or private car.

There are quite a few choices of hotels in the Cocoa Beach area. My favorite is the Residence Inn by Marriott. Another frequently recommended hotel is the Country Inn & Suites which is next to the Residence Inn. These are also the two closest hotels to the cruise terminal, about a 8-10 minute ride or less.

The Radisson, Country Inn Suites, and Residence Inn are the three

hotels closest to the Cruise terminals.

They are off of the beaten path and really not within walking distance

to the beach etc.

La quinta, Bestwestern, Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn

are on the ocean, close to all restaurants etc and only

a couple of miles further from the Port.

For shared shuttle service, Beachline is good.

For private service, limo--towncar, Executive vip limo is good
