C1 Cabins on Constellation

Having spent 4 weeks in an aft C1 recently, didn't notice a thing. In heavy seas there was a lot of movement so the walks to the elevators were "fun" and the night they had the "bags" ready in the elevators gave thought to what was happening. But no engine vibration.

The aft is subject to more motion than mid ship locations but we never found it objectionable.

There is sometimes a little vibration in the aft when maneuvering into port and docking. This is not nearly as severe on the M class ships as it is on older style ships whith fixed propellers like the Century (the only remaining ship in Celebrity's fleet with the older style propulsion system).

Of course the worst thing about the aft cabins is that it is such a long walk from your sliding glass door to the railing at the far end of your veranda:rolleyes:.

Hi-- just realize the AFT cabins are a lo--------------ng way from anywhere and you have to walk quite far to stairs/elevator for the dining room and buffet. For the theatre and entertainment area, you have to walk the entire length of the ship. Because I have some mobility issues we had to forgo a 2 cat upgrade to a C1 we were entitled to in favor of a mdiship C2. Just something to think about.

We have had Constellation 7208 on two transatlantics and loved the cabin. One trip in September 07 on the northern route had waves of 21 meters ( confirmed by the staff on our Bridge tour). The bed arrangement of the bed in these aft cabins is different than in the side cabins and the movement in rough seas does not tilt you to the side of the bed but you get a rolliing from the head of the bed to the bottom. On side cabins we have had the falling off the bed sensation in much lower waves.

Another positive thing is that there is very little noise back there from other passengers walking by. The balcony is great and there is protection from winds and rain.

Thanks to all who answered my question, providing both pro and con views. I was considering the C1 cabin because of a recent significant price drop on the October 1 Constellation cruise, especially for residents of Maryland and a number of other states. While I was pondering your information C1 as well as C2 and C3 cabins disappeared! Good luck to all those who decided faster!
