Welcome to Cruise Critic Audrey and Dennis.

It's a bit hard to answer what you on board spend will be as it depends on so much. Do you drink wine and alcohol? Do you enjoy Spa treatments? Will you will buying souvenir photographs?

All these things are what clock up the spend on board. Also ice creams on deck, soft drinks, etc.

Sorry not to be of more help but honestly - you could spend anything from £20 to £2000.

Have a great time. She's a nice ship.

You'll have to spreadsheet it - everyone's spend is different.

We have an aver. days spends (couple of drinks in the day, couple in the evening plus bottle of wine........this is about £40 for us.) then add any excursions, speciality restaurants, a couple of photos and any spa treatments you may have and thats it......that gives a rough guide and never far out.

Why no excursions? Some of the Canaries ports are a bit bland, please don't dismiss excursions, if your spending £1000's of pounds on a cruise it would be a shame not to see some of the best tourist attractions or interesting towns / countryside.

As mentioned , if you are thinking of a bottle of wine every night with dinner allow minimum £15 upwards per night (but you can buy wine by the glass/ house wine cheaper again by glass/ 1/2 litre or litre)....... or tap water by the jug is free.... so that can range from nil -£50 a night for starters...then theres drinks during the day, pre-dinner and post dinner drinks etc.

  • Photos - always on sale and ones of you on a formal night cost £15 odd each.
  • Spa/Hairdressers/ Yoga etc on a sea day
  • Courses on a sea day
  • Shops - temptations!
  • Supplement Restaurants : You may want to treat yourselves one night or more, to a even better eating experience the supplements can be £15-30pp plus wine and water if required .
  • And the tours.

On a Med cruise we spent £500 alone on tours -Rome was £99 each (£200), Florence and Pisa £75 each, and Monte Carlo £50 each (approx) For Example, but the port for Rome is Industrial and we could not miss out Rome when sailing to Italy.

So, anything from Nil to £1200 or so (£100 a day is not excessive for two) OR MORE !:D

I don't think the OP is suggesting they don't do excursions Sue, but you know the price of those before you sail. They are asking what they need to allow excluding tours. Still doesn't help much though since some people pride themselves on spending as little extra as possible (even making up a packed lunch in the buffet before going ashore), whereas others will spend all day in the spa on treatments etc.

We have spent between £400 and £2,000 on a two week cruise so it's very difficult to say.

We don't like the organised excursions so don't do many of them, unless somewhere difficult to get to eg Petra, Cairo etc so they rarely come into the equation.

I think if you allowed around £100 a day, you should be able to enjoy yourselves on board, and maybe take a couple of excursions as well.

I agree with the other replies - it depends on what you like to do, how much you like to drink, and what you like to drink.

I would imagine you were looking for some examples, so here's our spending on two trips:

Oceana Spring 2010, 14 nights - £120 per person (drinks/wine/laundry only)

QM2 Transatlantic July 2011, 7 nights - £170 per person (drinks/wine/laundry/4 gifts from shop)

These may seem modest amounts to some, but we generally have only 1 or 2 drinks per person per day, and wine with dinner. Thankfully some of the cheaper wines appeal to us, and we'll probably drink 2 bottles over 3 evenings. We'll usually try the 'cocktail of the day' which is usually at a reduced price.

Excursions, photos, and spa treatments will push up your spending considerably

Hope that helps, and have a great time!
