Motorbutt Posted August 29, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2011 I was wondering the same thing but, for the ports of Halifax and St John.
maryann ns Posted August 29, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2011 For halifax there are several restaurants on or near the waterfront which serve lobster (whole, boiled). One that may be less expensive would be the waterfront warehouse. You could also check Salty's, the Five Fishermen, McKelvies and others I don't recall. You could also do a search on Trip Advisor. Many people suggest going to the Superstore (grocery store) on Barrington Street very close to the pier, and getting them to cook a lobster for you. All you would need to enjoy it would be some lobster crackers or shears, some plates and napkins, etc.

But where would we eat it? In our hotel room? I don't think I would like that!
MonaCD Posted August 30, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 30, 2011 As Maryann mentioned, Waterfront Warehouse in Halifax has a good deal on a lobster dinner, 19.99, I've had it and quite enjoyed it. The Trapeze restaurant at the Casino (far end of the waterfront boardwalk) also offers a 19.99 lobster dinner, I haven't tried that one. Edited to add for can'tstopcruising - Superstore sometimes has a few small tables at which you can sit and eat or if it's a nice day, you may find a picnic table somewhere nearby at which you can enjoy your lobster outside. SailBadtheSinner Posted August 30, 2011 #7 Share Posted August 30, 2011 In Bar Harbor, for lobster I would suggest: FISH HOUSE GRILL http://fishhouse-grill.com/ at the town dock, Stewmans Lobsters http://www.stewmanslobsterpound.com/ (at the Bar Harbor location) turn right after leaving the town (tender) dock; it will be the next building on the right, West Street Cafe http://www.weststreetcafe.com/ just past Stewmans Lobsters but on the left. IMHO, you will get a good lobster dinner in most of the popular restaurants in BH. SBtS

Can'tstopcruising Posted September 2, 2011 #10 Share Posted September 2, 2011 Will there be good lobster the second half of October? Or is it too late in the season? Thanks
LiftLockCouple Posted September 2, 2011 #11 Share Posted September 2, 2011 For those interested in Saint John. Try any of these locations, plus "steamers" shich is directly opposit the Cruise Terminal.
sail7seas Posted September 3, 2011 #12 Share Posted September 3, 2011 Will there be good lobster the second half of October? Or is it too late in the season? Thanks It's never too late in the season for lobster. We live in Boston and get lobsters at our local pound (that's what they call the fish stores with lobster tanks) all year. Years ago' date=' we used to have New Years parties and would steam lobsters to serve our guests.[/b']

Robinhill Posted September 6, 2011 #14 Share Posted September 6, 2011 Hi, Will be going to Bar Harbor middle of October on a cruise and wanted some recommendations on restaurant for lunch that serves good lobster at decent prices? Thanks! Ann Ann- in Bar Harbor at the West Street Cafe (right on the main drag when you come off the ship) has a great Lobster special for $24.95 which includes a Maine Lobster, Bowl of Clam Chowder, and a slice of Blueberry Pie. It is a great deal!
SailBadtheSinner Posted September 6, 2011 #15 Share Posted September 6, 2011 posted: ....in Bar Harbor at the West Street Cafe (right on the main drag when you come off the ship)... Just a nitpick clarification, the main drag in Bar Harbor is Main St which is perpendicular to and runs away from the harbor. The West Street Cafe is located on West St which runs along the harbor.
