Dining Options on Caribbean Princess

We are considering taking our first cruise on the Caribbean Princess. Could someone please explain the dining options and especially which ones cost extra. Thank you, Kelly

The only dining venues that cost extra are Sabatini's and the steak house. Your options are Horizon Ct., Cafe Caribe, International Cafe and of course the diningrooms. All diningrooms serve the same menu whether you have traditional dining or anytime dining.

If you have Traditional dining, you will have either early or late seating. This is fixed seating dining and you are assigned a specific table and tablemates for the entire cruise. You will know exactly when you'll be eating and be able to walk in and sit at your table. Traditional dining is in the Palm dining room.

The other "main dining" option is Anytime dining. If you have this, you can show up at either the Coral or Island dining room when you are ready to have dinner. You can choose to sit by yourself or with others. If you opt to sit with others, chances are you'll have a short or no wait. If you sit by yourself, you have to wait for a table to open and there could be a wait.

The menus and dress is exactly the same whether you choose Traditional or Anytime dining. If you don't want to eat in one of the dining rooms, you can eat in the buffet, have pizza, or room service (which has a limited menu.) All of these are included in your cruise fare; no charge.

The two extra charge restaurants are Sabatini's, a fine Italian dining with mostly Northern Italian cuisine, and the Crown Grill (a steak house.) These cost about $20-25/pp. You can also order the Ultimate Balcony Dinner for $50/pp which is a fine dining experience in your cabin with two waitstaff at your service.

During the day, a dining room is open for breakfast and lunch, the buffet is open from very early in the morning until very late at night. The pizzeria is open, hot dogs and hamburgers are available near the pool, and room service is available 24/7. You can get the Ultimate Balcony Breakfast for $25/pp.

The only extra charge dining are the two specialty restaurants and the Ultimate Balcony Dinner and Breakfast. If you order pizza through room service to your cabin, there's a $3 service fee. That's only for pizza delivery.

Last time we were on the Sapphire each of the main dining rooms had its own "specialty" or "signature" offering on the menu and it was available each evening. I believe this is true for most Princess ships. The Santa Fe mdr had fajitas, the Savoy mdr had a pork chop, and I think the Pacific Moon mdr had some kind of stir-fry but I'm not sure. Our waiter in the Santa Fe said we could order the "specialty" from another mdr and there would be no problem. We've found the soups and sorbets to be quite nice. Enjoy!

The OP is on the Caribbean, not the Sapphire.
