driving from Lakeland florida to port of Miami

Has anyone driven from Lakeland to POM ? its states that is a 4.5 hour journey does this sound correct? thanks for any help or suggestions..

We drive from Dover, which is next to Plant City (just off I-4) and it takes us all of 4 1/2 hours to Miami. Perhaps 4 hours from Lakeland. Of course, that depends on where in Lakeland you live.

I live in South Lakeland, So that would be what I am getting from Mapquest But wanted to make sure as I don't usually drive that far to get on a ship. We usually take off out of Port Can or tampa. We will just get a early start just to make sure. Thanks for your fast reply. We are newbies to florida (lakeland area) :o

 

oh another question I have is did you park right at the terminal at Miami or use a parking area outside of the port area?

It is about 4 hours form Orlando to Miami, so about 4.5 from Lakeland sounds right.

 

Parking at POM costs $20/day and is convenient, covered and secure. Good luck! :)

A more liberal estimate of the driving time from Orlando to Miami via the Turnpike (allowing for one stop) would be 4½+ hours. I'd add another ½ hour from Lakeland.

I think we will get up and be on the road at 5ish to give us plenty of time,,,,, ship sails at 4:30pm,,
