DEL67 Posted September 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2011 I have not been to them all and/or can not remember, but here is my input: Lisbon, Portugal - My memory is that it was a distance from the ship to the port entrance, but once there, you were at the foot of the city Palma De Mallorca, Spain - You can easily walk into the city. Note: the hop on-hop off bus has a stop at the intersection of the main street and the street to the port. Barcelona, Spain - You have to go over a bridge to get to the city from the pier, but there is a shuttle bus that will take you to the statue of Colon at foot of the Ramblas. from there, you can walk into the city or catch a hop on hop off bus. Livorno (Florence/Pisa), Italy - We had private transportation so I do not remember how far it was from the ship into Livorno, but you need to take a train to get to Florence from there Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy - There is a free port bus between the ship and the end of the pier area. From there it is a 5 to 10 minute walk to the train station to go into Rome Naples, Italy - It was a number of years ago when we were there, but you could walk into Naples from the ship

Lisbon, Portugal; Palma De Mallorca, Spain; Barcelona, Spain; Livorno (Florence/Pisa), Italy; Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy; Naples, Capri, Italy; Cagliari (Sardinia), Italy; Gibraltar; Cádiz, Spain On our spring TA this year it was quite a way from the port to Palma. Basically not walkable. RCCL's shuttle was $5 each way. In Barcelona there was a city bus but not frequent and very difficult to get back to the ship. RCCL's shuttle-$5 each way. Did a tour in Livorno so can't say. Ship docks downtown in Naples so easy walk off. Gibraltar is about a 10 minute walk. Not bad. Cadiz is an easy walk off. Bon Voyage! Rare kernow Posted September 28, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 28, 2011 We went to Cagliari on AOS last year, there was a free shuttle bus to the port gate and from there you crossed the road and you were in town. Julie
catloverinhightown Posted September 28, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 28, 2011 Hi, info as follows: Lisbon - there is public transport just outside the port although we didn't use it. I think the tourist hop-on/off buses stopped there as well. If you email the tourist board they will let you have the info. RCI had a shuttle bus which went into Lisbon and then to Belem. It was $15. Palma - bus from the port - easy and cheap. Stops in the Placa de Espanya, jo0urney back outside the transport interchange on the other side of the square.Tourist bus also stops at port but we were'nt impressed the ear phones didn't work (a common problem) Barcelona - we didn't walk but were told it's about 25 mins to bottom of Las Ramblas. There's supposed to be a bus from the port but we could n't find the bus stop. Think RCI shuttle was $10. Gibraltar - easy walk in (10-15 minutes) Cadiz - easy walk Enjoy your cruise
gooners1968 Posted September 28, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 28, 2011 We bought a shuttle transfer ticket on the ship when we stopped at Livorno this summer on Liberty-cost $8 each. It would be too far to walk......
GEORGET Posted September 29, 2011 #7 Share Posted September 29, 2011 Is there anywhere on the RCI website that you tell what the cost of bus transfers out of port, and which ports you can walk out of, and others you cannot not ? below is ports of call on the our cruise.......... Lisbon, Portugal; Palma De Mallorca, Spain; Barcelona, Spain; Livorno (Florence/Pisa), Italy; Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy; Naples, Capri, Italy; Cagliari (Sardinia), Italy; Gibraltar; Cádiz, Spain Lisbon Walk off ship and there is a Hop on hop Off bus Barcelona there is a port bus that cost 2E return to the dock that drops you off at the bottom of the Rambles there is also the Hop On Hop off Bus there..Be warned there are gangs of Pickpockets that target cruisers so be careful. Palma walk to the dock and plenty of taxis plus Hop On Hop off bus if you use this note the drop off point before the Cathedral as it is the easiest to get on..Also a cheap duty free Liverno you have to pay to get off the ship, if it is in the new dock $7 which takes you the centre near by is a tourist info which tells you the buses to catch and trains. Bus No 1 1 Euro Train 2 e to Pisa Ciivitavecchia run a free bus to the port gates, from there you can walk to the Train station and for 10 euros you can travel to Rome the ticket allows you to use the Rome Buses and Metro Naples this is a problem if you dock in Naples then it is easy as the ship dock in town and the ferry/hydrfoil are just next to the entrance to the dock..At the dock entrance is the Hop ON hop off bus or you can get a taxi or walk to the station be warned as in Barcelona there are a lot of thieves and pick pockets..If you dock on the outer dock they run a free shuttle to the dock entrance. Some ship are avoiding Naples and are docking further away which is ideal if you want to visit Pompei as the free shuttle drops you at the railway station Gibralter..Dock Shuttle £2 each way but. you can easily walk to every part of the Rock...Be careful Some Duty free Fags and goods Are snids...Morrisons best bet. Cadiz Walking distance from ship Hope it helps j
