Have you looked at the new Nikon 1 Series? The zoom is only 11X right now, which is less than I would not only for AK but for other travel.

 

I don't use the point and shoots for zoom so I have not looked at the Nikon 1 Series. I use the P300 only for wide angle and people shots only when I have my big lenses on my D300 as the DSLR and lenses are much faster then the point and shoots and I need that for birds expecially.

Thanks! I like this cruise because there are a few sea days to relax plus sailing out of SF is really nice. Enjoy in 2013!
