Jimi123 Posted November 12, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 12, 2011 I'm looking to book my 2nd cruise and would like some opinions between the 2 cruises that I'm checking out. Let me know what you think. I'm also looking to avoid spring break. Seems like May is safe for that. I'm open to other cruises/options. It has to leave from Florida, the further North of the state, the better. Thanks. Carnival Freedom - 8 Night in May - $2470 Ft Lauderdale, FL Fun Day at Sea Fun Day at Sea St Thomas Antigua Tortola Fun Day at Sea Nassau Ft Lauderdale, FL Carnival Dream - 7 Night in May - $2417 Port Canaveral, FL Nassau Fun Day at Sea St Thomas St Maarten Fun Day at Sea Fun Day at Sea Port Canaveral, FL
CruiserBruce Posted November 12, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2011 Welcome to Cruise Critic! As you are looking exclusively at Carnival, the best place for this research, and question, is on the Carnival board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 12, 2011 #3 Share Posted November 12, 2011 Welcome to Cruise Critic. Both itineraries look good. As you make your decision factor in the cost of flights (if you need to fly) to and from Orlando versus Fort Lauderdale. Keith
Jimi123 Posted November 12, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted November 12, 2011 Thanks for the feedback thus far. I'll post this question over in the Carnival board. I'll be driving. The difference in driving time is about 2.5 hours, which kind of evens out the pros and cons between my 2 choices. I like Dream because its 2.5 hours less driving time and a newer boat. I like Freedom because it is an additional day and stops at 1 extra port. I'm leaning more towards the Freedom. Is there anything between the 2 that makes one of them a better sell? momstr Posted November 16, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 16, 2011 Just got off the Freedom (Sunday) from the St. Thomas, Antigua, Tortola, Nassau route. We felt (and we have taken five cruises so far this year) that the food on the Freedom was lousy, as was the service. It was sub-par to the Ecstasy, which had been our bottom-runner prior to this cruise. Also, the cruise is somewhat drug out, they could easily add another port (we sailed very very close to St. Maarten) but they didn't, more time onboard spending money in the casino and on liquor I guess. This was the worst Carnival ship my husband has ever been on, and he has been on over 15 of them.
