gtmarcus1 Posted November 16, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2011 Just returned from an eastern med cruise with visits to several greek islands. Rhodes- downloaded a walking tour in advance from discovery walks audio tours. Agios Nikolaos- free wifi which we were able to access from our verandah on the ship. Go into tourist information office and ask for username and password. It did lock us out after a period of time. Weather was too cool for swimming, but the nicest beach we saw was Ammos Beach (just past the marina area). Walking distance from the port Patmos- we hiked up the path to the Cave of St. John and then continued up to the Monastery. About 45 minute walk up. Not too steep, with beautiful views. You can also get there by bus or taxi. Volos-we were there on a Sunday and all the shops were closed. Not much to do there in November with cool weather. Other passengers who did the tour to the Monasteries built into the cliffs were very impressed. Two hour drive each way.
paul929207 Posted November 16, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 16, 2011 Thanks for the info. We were in Volos in late June in the mid 90's. It was also a Sunday, probably warmer than what you had, but no shops were open.
