Jimi123 Posted November 19, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2011 I purchased 2 one liter bottles of Jack Daniels for $40 in the boats duty free shop. Would I have found a significantly better deal shopping around when the ship was in port in Nassau?
paul929207 Posted November 19, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 19, 2011 Next time, check the price in the ship's duty free shop. Then go ashore and see the price.
Rare silentbob007 Posted November 19, 2011 #3 Share Posted November 19, 2011 Use the first night to scope prices on the ship (and make sure to note sizes), then go ashore and check some of the duty free or local shops. In my experience, JD and other American whiskeys do not have that great of of a duty-free markdown anywhere. I'm not sure what your local pricing is, but I can get 750 ml of JD for about $18-20 locally ... while a little cheaper on the ship, packing and flying it home is not worth it for me, though your experience will of course be different.
