NORWEGIAN DREAM / Europe Photos

Just returned from Europe yesterday after a whirlwind tour of five countries in 16 days. We spent 12 nights onboard NCL's NORWEGIAN DREAM sailing from Rome to London, then a few nights in London afterward. We also enjoyed a day excursion on the high-speed EuroStar from London to Paris during one of our nights in London.

All in all we really had a great time and saw so much. It might have been almost too much as I feel like I need vacation from the vacation. Unfortunately no time for that as it's back to work tomorrow. I think the highlights and places we would like to return were Portofino, Monte Carlo, London, and of course Paris. The cruise itself was fine, but the ship was not a favorite and neither was Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL). More on that in a detailed review to follow.

Our weather was quite nice with a only a day of rain on the cruise and the rest mostly sunny. Of course Paris and London were overcast and chilly which is typical.

I will eventually get a review together, but meanwhile I thought you might enjoy the photos we took. Here is the link:

Hot tubs were great, and the right temperature I might add. In general the pools and deck space on the DREAM is excellent. I think that is the best part of the entire ship.

Also, yes there is a safe in the cabin. It's the kind where you must swipe a credit card to lock and unlock it.

Best,
Ernie

Hi there Ernie. Weren't you on the Conquest last summer when I was? Do you have time to let us know specific problems with NCL? I'm going on the Sun to Alaska in a couple of weeks and would appreciate it.

It was fun seeing your name again.

Cindy

Hi Cindy,
Yes that was me on the CONQUEST. I would not worry about the SUN. I think most of the problems I experienced with NCL and the DREAM will not apply to the SUN. NORWEGIAN SUN was designed for Freestyle cruising from the onset, DREAM was not and this is where most of the annoyances with NCL occurred. Also, the two ships can't be compared as SUN is beautiful and new, and DREAM, well, isn't!

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask, but otherwise go and enjoy yourself and I think you will find SUN a beautiful ship.

Best,
Ernie

Ernie, Great pictures, thanks for posting. I was on the Dream's 4/19 sailing from London to Rome. I look forward to reading your review, will you let me know when and where it's up?

Eroller -
I was thrilled with your post, We are seriously looking into booking the Dream NEXT April 20, 2005. I was concerned that it may be a little too early in the season (weather & museum hours?) How were the crowds in April? I would guess that there wasn't much waiting for anything- which would be a bonus. I cant wait for your extended posting of this trip.
Thank you! - The pictures say a lot too!

Life is like a book, if you dont travel, you read only one page.

Great Pictures Ernie,
My wife and I were very close to booking the cruise you were on but things did not work out. Fortunately the right airfare came through and we will be on Splendor of the Sea in three weeks. We will be in Monte Carlo, Marsellie, Rome, and Naples shortly. Glad to see all went great. Thanks for the weather report. Tim and Cathy
