Shuttle bus- hobart and Melbourne?

This is very easy. The light rail/tram terminus is right across the road from the dock so you can just catch it right to the heart of the City - it goes up lovely Collins Street (Tram # 109)

The Cadbury visitor centre is in Claremont which is around 7 miles (15 km) and a 25 minute taxi ride from the pier in Hobart.

In Melbourne don't stuff around with ships shuttle even if it free, as you will wait around till it fills to come back at set times or intervals.

In Melbourne, walk to the Pier Head look slightly to the right and you will see the terminus of the Light Rail . Buy a Zone 1 Daily ticket from the machine on board and that covers you for all trams and trains all day within 10 kms of the CBD . Don't forget to validate your ticket in the green machine each time you board a tram, or enter a train platform.

The # 109 Tram in 20 mintes will take you from Station Pier up past Crown Casino, Up Spencer St, right turn and up Collins Street . Alight at cnr Spencer & Collins St for Southern Cross station . Alight at Swanston St for the heart of the City .

To return direct to the ship join any Westbound tram # 109 PORT MELBOURNE over the entire length of Collins St, or in Spencer St between Collins & Flinders Sts. # 109 will take you back to the ship. Trams run every few minutes .

Consider visiting National Gallery - Australian Art Collection (Free) Ian Potter Centre Federation Square (cnr Flinders & Swanston Sts); National Gallery of Victoria (International Collection) St Kilda Rd (also Free).

The Royal Melbourne Zoo is easily accessed by train from Southern Cross Station in Spencer St. Take UPFIELD train and alight at Royal Park .

The only problem in Melbourne is when 1,000 or more , people arrive at the light train station and try to cram on board.

Extra trains and overflow busses are available , but there always seems to be an initial rush. Once thats over it all works fine.

The Cadbury factory is pretty boring. They don't even give you free chocolate. In Hobart itself, the nicest area is right near the ship, in Salamanca & Battery Point. Restaurants, cafes, art galleries, quaint cottages etc.

You can take a ferry ride up the river to David Walsh's fabulous MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) art gallery. Lots of weird and wonderful modern art, imaginatively displayed in a great building. Half the fun is the interactive ipods you carry around to the exhibits, and the sometimes humorous comments on them from David Walsh, the artists, other artists, art critics and other patrons.

Lots of beautiful scenery within easy reach of Hobart if you hire a car. The green and lovely Huon Valley is 30 minute's drive south, Mt Field is not too far, or it's a 10-minute drive up Mt Wellington for a great view from the top.

We took the shuttle bus into Melbourne. No worries. It filled up right away. We took a tram back to the pier. The Sunday special ticket for both and all day transportation was $ 3.50.

Hobart had a shuttle bus as well, but the walk into town is easy.
