MaiTaiQueen Posted January 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2012 Just wondering if anyone could tell me the amounts per person that Royal Caribbean set out for us. (The piece of paper they leave in the room near the end of the cruise stating how much per person per day.) Thanks! :)
cb at sea Posted January 9, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2012 It works out to $11.65 per person, per night.....they will leave you a breakdown of how much to tip your attendant, waiter, ass;t waiter and head waiter, but you can budget based on the total tip amounts. Rare silentbob007 Posted January 9, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2012 I've just been having them add it to my onboard account by filling out a form available onboard. It saves the counting/need for cash on the last day.
PattyG12 Posted January 9, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 9, 2012 Pre Paid is easier yet. You can add it to your final payment and never have to think about it again.

clean1owner Posted January 9, 2012 #6 Share Posted January 9, 2012 Does anybody know when they stopped recommending a tip ammount for the Matre D'? It used to always be included with the envelopes.

In all of our years of cruising on RCI, we have never received an envelope for the Maitre 'd.
clean1owner Posted January 10, 2012 #8 Share Posted January 10, 2012 In all of our years of cruising on RCI, we have never received an envelope for the Maitre 'd. Maybe it was just the other lines that included them. But I do remember thinking "What did this guy do for me?" when I saw it. I also remember the cruise director, during the debarkation talk, discussing tips and saying "If you have not yet seen the Matre D', I guarantee you will meet him tonight at dinner." Actually making a joke about the fact there was a Matre D' tip envelope.

Actually making a joke about the fact there was a Matre D' tip envelope. I think that the people who say that are confusing the Maitre'D with the headwaiters who wear maroon jackets and oversee a section of the main dining room. RCI has never, to my knowledge, ever included the Maitre'D in the list of dining room staff for whom tips are suggested. If you need to change your table or dining time, you may need to see the Maitre'D and a gratuity at that point may help your chances that your request will be granted.:)
