wmw1490 Posted February 16, 2012 #26 Share Posted February 16, 2012 2 People won I-Pads + $500 last month on the Conquest. The 2nd winner 'sold' the I-pad back to the ship. There is a joystick to move the 'key' back and forth...this is the 'easy' part. Then a 'button' you push to raise the key. When it is lined up with the target (which is actually a rectangular opening) you let go of the button and the key moves forward to see if it makes it through the opening. Usually is stopped at the top or bottom edge. Easier said than done. There was a constant line of people willing to try their luck. Is a pretty good spectator activity. The body language some people display is quite entertaining! What's more fun is watching all those giving advice on when to stop. I fed the machine too many $$$ and never saw a winner. I did see prizes moved around to make it look like someone won something as all should know there is quite a bit of psychology practiced in a casino environment. It was short lived fun, but I saw a lot of people come very close, but no cigar. So, I sense there is a "luck" variable thrown in there and it takes more than eye/hand coordination. Almost Packed Posted February 16, 2012 #31 Share Posted February 16, 2012 i played it last week on the Elation. fun game...i lost my money slower on this game than a slot machine, so technically, it saved me money. :D  if one person is playing, just wait a couple of minutes, then everyone will be standing around watching. there was someone that one an ipad and $500 bucks, but the lower rows seem to be the ones that people were hitting on more. ($100 cash) certainly will donate some more money to the cause next cruise. lol
Grits53 Posted February 16, 2012 #32 Share Posted February 16, 2012 It is extremely difficult to hit the exact spot to make the "key" pass through the hole. It looks easy, but it isn't. On the Magic, I saw lots of people standing around watching, trying to figure out how to do it. I think one person finally won the iPad, but there were hundreds or thousands of tries, and the people walked away with nothing but lighter pockets. (I was one of those with lighter pockets....)
Rankbronc Posted February 16, 2012 #33 Share Posted February 16, 2012 The diameter of the key and the opening are the same size so you have to nail the placement. We were on the Splendor the week of Jan 29 and the machine was packed the first few days, then use faded as the week went on. Three prizes were won that week, $100, $200 and an iPad plus $500. There is another game in the arcade that had iPod touch and gift cards available. Both machine are a buck a try

At times there are 20+ people watching and waiting to play. Im curious, how are you finding out how many people won?

Grits53 Posted February 16, 2012 #36 Share Posted February 16, 2012 it's a gateway drug just to get you in the door ;) On the Magic, it's actually not IN the casino. It's in the walking area on Promenade, near the casino area but not IN it. ;)
brilliantseas Posted February 16, 2012 #37 Share Posted February 16, 2012 I believe these are actually custom-branded Sega Key Master redemption/prize games manufactured by Birmingham Vending. The machines have a customizable ROI difficulty setting set by the owner of the machine that determines how often it pays off. As the product's description says, you can even give away a car (or the keys to a car) and still make money on the machine by changing the ROI settings in the computer. Same thing for Stacker, Barber Cut, Winner's Cube, etc. They are all computer controlled to ensure that the owner always makes a profit and that no one can become "too" skilled at the games. Im curious, how are you finding out how many people won? because when you first start watching, all the rows of prizes are there...then as people win them, there are blanks. someone posted on this thread a link to a youtube video. you can watch it there and see. this game is open even while in port. it's not "in" the casino. it's right outside. Kevin_Mac Posted February 16, 2012 #39 Share Posted February 16, 2012 Saw 1 winner (Ipad + $500) on the Destiny a couple of weeks ago...I also watched one guy play $50 and not win a darn thing.

The casino did not restock the machine during the cruise, as people won something they left a key hole with nothing behind it, so you could tell what had been won by what was missing. The machine was getting heavy use at first, then as people had had a chance to try it they started to give up. Only the addicted were still trying late into the week. You kept seeing the same few people trying over and over again.

Elaine515 Posted February 16, 2012 #43 Share Posted February 16, 2012 A bit concerned about this... someone posted that its outside the casino, "open" 24/7 and takes your Sign n Sail card... Are the kids playing this game? Are they allowed? How much money are they losing trying to win money and an iPad? I will have to tell my kids to stay away unless its their own money they're putting in and not use the Sign n Sail card for this....

IslandToIsland Posted February 16, 2012 #46 Share Posted February 16, 2012 There were always crowds by this machine last week when we were on the Magic and I don't think I ever seen kids. Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
SASA13 Posted February 16, 2012 #47 Share Posted February 16, 2012 They had it on my last cruise. They draw a crowd, and most of the fun ( for me ) was watching a guy who couldn't win after dumping 20 bucks in the machine, go away cussing and kicking the machine so hard, security came running over. It was a great show :) I saw one person win the entire cruise. I rather dump my money in the slots.
