Ship Time - Sea Princess - Alaska

Can anyone tell me whether or not "ship time" on this particular ship is synched with the ports we'll be visiting (Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway & Victoria)?

We sail round-trip from San Francisco in July, where Pacific Daylight Time will be observed. My understanding is that Alaska also observes Daylight Savings Time, and that the Alaska Time Zone is one hour behind Pacific Time (e.g. - 10 a.m. Pacific Time = 9:00 a.m. Alaska Time).

Given all of the above: Where the Princess itinerary states that we arrive in Skagway at 7:00 a.m., does that mean that we will be arriving at 7:00 a.m. or 6:00 a.m. local Skagway time?

I'd also be curious to know whether ship time will be synched with local time when we arrive in Victoria, BC.

Any help from an experienced Sea Princess cruiser will be greatly appreciated!

In our experience the ship has always synced with local time. There was only one time where we were not synced with local time and it was all over the daily sheet and announced all over the ship to make sure people got back on time.

Don't worry....you will always know what time it is. If the itinerary says you arrive Skagway at 0700 then it is Skagway time. Your telephone read-out also has the correct time for your reference.

Alaska cruises always switch to "local time' since there are so many ports of call within that time zone. So, the itinerary will be both ships time and local time. And after your last Alaska port of call, the ships clocks will advance one hour. So, Victoria will also be on local time.

Thanks so much for your replies. Jasperdo, that's what I was hoping. Logically, it makes sense, but it's been more than 10 years since I've taken an Alaskan cruise and I couldn't remember!
The time changes will be listed in your Princess Patter. You will also get a notice on your pillow before you go to bed that night. Have a great cruise!
