British Colonial Hilton Day Pass

FYI, we were in Nassau two weeks ago.

We never got around to booking the Hilton ahead of time and just assumed we would be ok just walking up. There were 5 ships in port that day. We got off the ship early and was at the hotel by probably 10AM and we got turned away as the resort was full.

Please note, if you are set on going, make the reservations. We ended up at the free beach and had a nice day anyway, but was looking forward to the Hilton.

Thank you for this information! I was just going to wait until we docked in Nassau and just walk to the resort to get a day pass, but I think I'll go ahead and book through Island Marketing. My mom and I want a relaxing beach day (along with food and drink) and I don't want to chance us not being able to get that. I am sorry you weren't able to enjoy the Hilton.

No.. only 2 casinos in Nassau.. Atlantis and Crystal Palace at Cable Beach.

Thanks Scubagirl. You have always been so helpful.

Looks like we will be headed to the Crystal Palace, which I think is at the Wyndham. Thanks again :)

How much is the day pass??

$50 in advance thru Island Marketing.

$55 at the front desk

$30 of that goes towards a food/drink voucher at the Patio Grille.

This is a Very small quiet venue... business hotel/ not a resort.

but it's a nice place to relax, read a book or nap in the hammock. If you need more than that.. this is not the place.

This looks like a great option for us. Question.. I see on the website they have snorkeling excursions leaving from their beach at the Hilton. Has anyone done that?

Also, is the walk safe from the cruise ship to the Hilton? It will be me and 2girls (8 & 11).

We can swim in the ocean and pool?

Thanks!

Hi Kac13090 !

Our family did the BCH day pass on our cruise last march and it was a great day! I was also concerned bout the walk from the ship to the hotel as we also had our two little girls with us ( ages 7 and 9) but it was not bad at all. It was only a 5 min. walk and yes, there were some vendors along the way that asked if you wanted your hair braided, taxi ride, or selling something etc... They were not obnoxious or pushy. A polite "no thank you" was all it took. The BCH was great. We used both the beach and the pool and had a great time. It was a fun, relaxing and peaceful day. We also did a 2 hour sightseeing/snorkeling tour that leaves right from the grounds of the BCH. The outfit is Blue Hole Water Sports and it is a small, family run operation. We were the only ones on our tour. Basil is the owner and we had his son, Mark for our guide. I would not hesitate to recommend either the BCH day pass or Blue Hole Water Sports. It was the perfect choice for us! If you have any other specific questions about our day at the BCH, I'd be happy to answer them !

I agree with everything she said. Especially about Blue Hole Watersports. It was the highlight of our trip. So nice to snorkel in such a small group.

Thank you so much!! I was thinking of Atlantis but its the last day of our cruise and I want it to be relaxing so this sounds perfect!! Thank you for the insight. I'll definitely do the snorkeling to. Do you have to pre book it or do it then? Do you know if they take credit? I don't really want to carry cash.

Thank you!!!

Everywhere we went, even some vendors, take debit/credit cards. They also ALL (the hotel, Blue Hole, the rum cake vendor) charged a 5% debit card fee that was a separate charge on my account from the other charges. It was, however, less than a dollar for each charge and not really that big of a deal.

Also, be aware that the drinks at the Hilton are VERY expensive. Do not plan to go and get hammered on that $30. That will buy you about 3 drinks per person. And that is not including food.

We went to the Hilton on Tuesday this week. I really liked the pool and thought the property was beautiful. The food was good (the chicken tenders were amazing!). The beds next to the pool were very comfortable.

When we checked in to get day passes we were told that they were not discounted because the weather had been bad. I never mentioned or asked for a discount so I was puzzled but said I didn't mind; we just wanted a nice day (It was sunny and nice enough outside). I don't know if I misunderstood or what but then when we got outside we were told we couldn't sit on the beach, it was closed. Then other people were on the beach so I guess we just couldn't sit on the beach with chairs. That would have been nice to know up front.

When I ordered my food an employee came up and asked me for a blue voucher. I didn't receive one and had no idea what he was talking about. I pulled out everything I got and showed him and he kept insisting I needed a blue voucher. I asked if there was a problem and why I needed it. He said I just did and he was suppose to collect it but not to worry about it. Again, I'm wondering if maybe I misunderstood something because it was so strange.

Just a warning for people, we sat by the pool since we couldn't sit on the beach and there were bees buzzing around the bar and pool side beds. I am allergic to wasps and had a strong reaction to yellow jackets. I had my epi pen but I was still nervous. My sister-in-law ended up being stung and her calf swelled up pretty bad. Just a warning for people who maybe really allergic. I know I can't live my life avoiding all bees but there were seriously a lot and I probably would have skipped the whole thing if I had known about the bees and the beach situation.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience!! Did you pre book your passes via a website? I'm wondering if the blue paper was the $30 food voucher?

I guess I don't understand why you couldn't go on the beach or sit in the comfy chairs. That worries me!

Well they were cleaning up a lot of stuff off the beach and there was a red flag up. We walked down on it and took some pictures but I was really hoping to sit out on the beach on a chair and they wouldn't let us do that. I understand why if it was too windy still but again, it would have been nice to know that before paying. I think we could have sat on a towel but I always get so sandy like that and don't really like laying out on just a towel on the sand.

We had some other voucher for the food so I have no idea. I felt like I was missing something there.

It was really nice property and I think maybe another day it would have been great. I definitely enjoyed the nice beds by the pool and the ocean was beautiful.

We did not prebook our passes.
