We are currently booked in a regular balcony forward on lido BUT it appears they have released 3 aft view extended on verandah. Should we switch??? It's only a $40 total difference, I've always wanted to try one. If it makes any difference to anyone this is on the Triumph...TIA!

I would do it in a heartbeat! Bigger balcony & love watching the water in the path the ship leaves

Hate to be the only naysayer, but not an aft fan. Angled dividers, soot and lack of any kind of breeze made both my aft balcony sailings less than i'd hoped. From noon until after sundown, the balcony was unbearably hot both trips. On the other hand, avoided the cruise ship canyon phenomenon when docked alongside another ship. Long travel to get anywhere other than lido buffet. Lido regular balcony is my preferred location now, except on spirit class, of course.

I have booked my first aft for my upcoming cruise so I have no idea how great they are but am happy to find out. :) I had a lido balcony last year, thanks to the upgrade fairy, and it was awesome!! I would definitely give the aft a try for only $40 more. From what almost everyone has said, once you go aft, you never go back. ;)

Another 'naysayer' here for the same reasons. Not much privacy back there from those above you.

However, for $40 you may want to find out for yourself.

I say go for it! Personally we didn't find it any hotter than say the lido deck.

We loved the quietness back there, the view is amazing and we didn't have soot problems at all. The walk was a bit far but nothing that takes away from the experience. Plus it helps walk off some calories from the chocolate melting cake :)

I am also one who prefers the Lido balcony. 4 of last 5 cruises have been Lido balcony with the other one being an aft.

I did enjoy the aft balcony, but prefer the location of the lido balcony better, but you really can't go wrong either way.

Without hesitation I would switch to the AFT! It's just one short flight up to the adult pool and buffet and you are AFT, not side!! For $40, it's worth the cost just to try it, Lido balconies are a dime a dozen, there are very few AFT-extended!!

We gave up our Lido balcony for an Aft once and we both hated it, it was too hot and I didn't care for the view. I like to get up early and sit outside with my coffee but it was just too darn hot regardless of the time of day for us. I wouldn't do it again but whatever you choose have a great cruise :)

I have had 2 afts and loved them both. One was in Bermuda and the other was AL. I have not experienced soot or excess heat, but I have experienced my own Serenity deck right on my balcony. It is beyond amazing! I also had a bal. gty. and it turned out to be a Lido balcony and we had a great time, being so close to everything. If I had your choice I would pick the aft. The price is reasonable and the view is priceless. I have an Empress aft in September on the Glory going to NE/Canada. I picked up a great casino rate and the aft was another $70.00. They also gave me $100.00 casino credit. Get your cabin guy to get you a lounge chair, they fit on an aft, grab your drink of choice and enjoy the best serenity deck there is. Make sure you also see sunrise or sunset on an aft- breath taking! Have a great time.
