Taxi cost St. John,NB/ Bay of Fundy

Recommended Posts

Saint John is located on the Bay of Fundy. If you mean St Martins to walk on the ocean floor when the tide goes out (50 minutes from ship) then you can hire a cab at $50 per hour. It will be more economical to take an organized tour from a company like Freedom Tours. Hope this helped.

Oh, wow...I'm an idiot. :o I didn't realize that Saint John was actually on the Bay of Fundy.

When we went last time we took the hop on/hop off bus tour and it dropped us off at this restaurant/gift shop...you could watch a movie about the tides. Do you know where this is? I can't remember the name of the restaurant, all I know is that the view was awesome. There were a bunch of stairs leading down to the water. I believe you could do boat rides also.

Basically I'd like to go back here by taxi. :)

That was the Reversing Falls restaurant located above the Reversing Falls.

Does this look familiar? The ship would be docked in the distance on the right.

The restaurant and Info centre are out of frame to the left as is the Reversing Falls bridge. The ships dock center left near the taller buildings.

The Reversing Falls Restaurant and Info Center from the bottom of the stairs you mentioned.

Another view, also from the bottom of the stairs on an observation deck.

Does anyone know how much (estimate) it would cost to take a taxi to the Bay of Fundy from St. John?

The last time I cruised to New England 10/09, the taxi to the falls(other poster showed photo;that's the place) was $9.00 total each way.(2 people)

The restaurant that has the movie in the basement is called Split Rock rest., I believe. The movie was $2.50 each and we paid in USD. We enjoyed the movie very much and the view down all the stairs was excellent.

I just looked up my review, it had this info. in it.(Carribean Princess)

you prompted me to look back at my photos and indeed that is the place for the movie and the boat ride. Here are a couple more photos of the Split Rock. It should be noted that these photos were taken at high tide so the salt water is flowing up stream into the mouth of the Saint John River. The rapids of the " falls" are not nearly as dramatic as they are at low tide when the river out flow is squeezed into the small passage under the bridge.

The boat ride mentioned here is not the Jet Boat. The Jet Boat is docked further up stream near the zip line attraction.

Of possible interest to our American friends. This area is full of history including the period of the American Revolution. The British interests here were attacked by American Privateers on a number of occasions. It later became one of the homes of American residents and soldiers loyal to the crown. Known as Loyalists they left New York and other places at the end of the war. The Saint John River valley had been settled by "planters" from New England beginning at about 1765 or so. Beginning at the end of the war they were joined by the Loyalists. If you are interested in this history, a great attraction is the New Brunswick Museum that is located very near the ship pier.
