CPT Trips Posted April 28, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2005 I enjoy spending time sitting and relaxing on the promanade deck. It has become one of those amenities that I look for. I know that some HAL and RCCL ships have a promanade deck with chairs. Do all ships in these lines have this feature? I discovered, sadly, that NCL Sun has the deck, but no chairs. Does anyone know whether other NCL ships offer both the deck and chairs?
rkacruiser Posted April 28, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 28, 2005 I can speak from my experience that all of the HAL vessels on which I have sailed have had deck chairs on their Promenade Deck. Whether or not there are chairs on that deck have to do with safety concerns. Since this is the usual deck for lifeboat embarkation in an emergency, chairs may not be allowed by the Coast Guard if it is felt that they would in some way hinder the boarding of the lifeboats. Royal Princess(soon to be P & O's Artemis) is a good example of this. This ship has a lovely wrap-around Promenade Deck, but due to it being more narrow than some Promenade Decks, deck chairs cannot be placed there.
