Hi Donna

I enjoyed just walking around

It's all very compact and as the ship was in the harbour I was able to call back for a quick lunch before going out again. We spent about an hour at the Oceanographic Museum - the building is worth going into even if you don't go into the aquarium.

All the best, Tony

Wonderful video, thanx so much for sharing. So did you basically just walk around? Did you go on a tour of any kind? Any truth to the rumor that in order to enter into casino one must be dressed formally?? My husband read that somewhere  Thank you also for the suggestion to go to the Oceanographic Museum, will keep that in mind :) If you have any more thoughts or suggestions please please do share!

Yes..there is a dress code for the Grand Casino...however there is another casino right next door..no dress code...We used the little white tourist train back & forth from Monte Carlo - Monacco..

Hi Donna

Yes, we did just walk around. As the Noordam was parked in the harbour we were always within half a mile of it so there were no issues about worrying about getting back to it on time. Even if you tender into MC that would be true as the tender would leave from the harbour. Med cruise itineraries are very intensive and we had spent 2 hard (but brilliant) days in Rome and Florence battling the clock in hot weather so this sort of day was perfect. Plus the location is ideal for strolling around - very glamorous and chic (I blended in perfectly :)) with gardens and views everywhere, and of course a famous history. As an F1 fan I loved walking parts of the circuit.

After the Oceanographic Museum we took that little 'train' thing shown briefly in the video (it starts from just outside the building) to have a ride around the Principality. You have a headset and get a bit of info as you go, which help with the orientation, although it's very easy anyway. Another thing you could do is take a tour of the Pink Palace, and go inside to see what it looks like.

I don't know much about the casino dress code - I don't think it is super-formal anymore as they do want us tourists to go in and know we won't have our fancy clothes in the day off a cruise ship.

It was a memorable day, and I'm sure you (or anyone) will have one too.

Tony

The first time there several years ago, to enter the casino you needed at least a jacket. And, the day of our visit, there were some high rollers playing high-stakes roulette. To get into that area, you needed to have a coat and tie, but the casino provided a tie if you asked. During the day, the table games are limited in the public area of the casino, but an inquiry into upper level games might get you a private seat elsewhere in the casino. Table stakes four roulette that day was not in small denomination euro chips but square, highly-polished plaques. If you collect chips, you can get actual chips used at the casino from the cage. Hope this helps.

We are going on the 14-Med cruse aboard the Ruby Princess beginning Sunday. Good luck in the casino.
