Allure room advice 8196 (D1) versus 14614 (D2)

Recommended Posts

Contemplating these two rooms-least expensive options currently available for 3 cruisers sailing in 1 stateroom (no interiors or oceanviews available). Alternative is booking 2 rooms (1 Category N inside Guaranty for 2 and 1 Category Z inside Guaranty for 1. Having a balcony is NOT essential-we need to decide if it is worth the extra $970 for the balcony and to have everyone together in one room. I realize: there is lots to do on the ship; that not much time will be spent in the room; and that it will be super hot in August. MY QUESTIONS are: will floor noise from above on Deck 15 be a problem in 14614 and is noise a concern on Deck 8 due to Central Park if we go with 8196? Thank you in advance for your input!

Thanks for your reply! I am mostly worried about "across the hall" noise from the banging of pots and pans from the infamous Park Cafe. I see that your cabin was across from Giovanni's-did you ever hear any noise from there?

Also did you have a third person in your stateroom and if you did how comfortable was the sofa bed?

We had stayed in 14614 and loved it. We never heard any noise from above. The views from the highest deck pulling into the ports were priceless. The only downside to that room was that it was midship between the two elevator banks so there was some walking involved. A minor oversight though especially because a lot of walking is expected when you're on the largest cruise ship in the world. The balcony is totally worth its cost. I wouldn't cruise any other way.
