GCT Elbe River Cruise

We returned on Monday from an 11 day Elbe River vacation with Grand Circle. We enjoyed our time on the Allegro. The captain is personable and a very good singer and entertainer. The small staff were always smiling and friendly. The food was typical river cruise cuisine. A fairly limited menu but tasty and well-prepared. The cabins are quite small but well designed. The Elbe is a narrow and fairly shallow river so the ship is, by necessity, smaller than those used on the Rhine or Danube. We especially enjoyed the hotel stay in Hamburg and the stops in Wittenberg, Meissen and Dresden. A highlight was the National Park at Bastai. Our trip ended in Prague where we spent two nights in a hotel. Overall I would rate the trip a solid "A."
