1. 1. What do you preder to wear?

    • All out, floor length gown with all the accessories...
    • I prefer a cocktail or tea length gown with all accessories
    • The sexiest dress I can find!
    • Skirt (any length) with sequined top or nice sweater and/or jacket
    • Dressy pants suit or other 2-piece dressy outfit
    • I prefer slacks and a nice blouse and/or jacket
    • I only dress for comfort
    • I don't dress for formal night
Thanks Stormy for filling me in. Believe it or not I have just taken a beautiful black dress which was that length down to my alteration lady to be shortened to be just on the knee. I prefer that length than half way down my leg which is neither cocktail length nor long. Each to their own! :) ;)

I know what you mean - I do prefer the hem to either hit right below the kneecap ...or to be full-length.

I'm not really tall enough to do justice to the tea length - have to wear very high heels to get the right illusion. :o

I started out packing the heavy, beaded gowns but hubby complained about the weight--now have long, dressy chiffon skirt with different sparkly tops--it's so much easier and lots of fun!
What is a mindinaure? I googled it because I didn't have a clue. Nothing showed up, so I still don't know, LOL! Take pity and educate me, please! thanks!!!
It is a hard sided evening bag covered with crystals. Mine is made by Judith Leiber. I purchased it at auction. It once belonged to Zsa Zsa Gabor.

I am attempting to get a picture posted. Can someone tell me how to do this, please. Thanks

Your problem was that ryansmemom spelled it wrong. It is a minaudiere. ;)
Thank you Peaches, I pride myself on my spelling however after midnight when the grandkids have left I need all the help I can get. :)
Classic black cocktail-length dress - silver jewelry - tall strappy slingbacks.

On our cruise, the majority of women wore black, so colored dresses really stood out - just lovely. I loved all of the sparkly tops, too. Everyone looked wonderful.
I agree... I want to feel beautiful in every way that night and that includes just a splash of sex appeal. Classy sexy. I view that night as part of my whole cruising experience and can't wait to see everyone at their best

LOL!!! The spelling wasn't the problem for me, at least:D . I had no idea what it was with either spelling and I don't mind admitting it. As cosmopolitan as I like to think myself to be, I was not familiar with this type of purse.

Some examples:

My pleasure! Peaches, I wasn't criticizing at all! Just admitting I'm stupid either way!!!;)

My quickie way to post pics is this. I have a google on my toolbar and I google the word I'm looking for. Up come a bunch of websites. On the top tab, I click "Images" and up pop a bunch of little pictures.

When I want to post the tiny pic, I right click on the picture, click copy. Then I place my pointer in the "reply" section and right click and paste and "voila!" we have a picture!:D

Thanks so much, Heather. I will try it!!

I still can't get it. I am trying to add a picture from my desktop. The instructions say to click on the "Browse" button. I can't find it. There is a "Manage Attachments" button, but when I click on, it turns blue and then nothing else happens. Any suggestions?

The picture on your desktop may be too large, Linda. When you click on the "manage attachments" button you should get a small box that says "manage attachments" and under that "upload file". That's where you would click on "browse" and find the picture you want from your desktop. But if it's too large you'll get a note saying you're only allowed so many KBs.

If you're getting a blank box, it may be that in your CP (edit options) you don't have the right boxes checked. Be sure all 3 are checked. Also I believe you need to have selected "enhanced interface" and also enable images (I don't have that page in front of me so I'm telling you from memory). I can't think of any reason that you're getting a blank box.

What I did is totally different. I simply copy and pasted right into my reply box. Since it was such a tiny "thumbnail" size, I was able to do it that way.

I hope this helps though I'm not very hopeful!!

Thanks for this fun thread. I'm in the process of figuring out my formal attire for my first cruise (Alaska in August), and love the ideas.

With all the talk about sparkly, sequined tops, I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem. I recently purchased a gorgeous sequined top (on sale!). I noticed that it was leaving some glittery stuff on the floor of the dressing room, but figured it was just sluffing off some excess. Unfortunately, I've since tried on the top several times and each time, ended up covered with sequins (myself, the floor and the comforter on the bed). Obviously, I can't wear something like this at the dinner table (excuse my reach and my glitter in your soup!), so it's heading back to the store. :(

I'm now on the lookout for a beaded top, but wonder if anyone who's mentioned sequins has figured out a way to prevent the fallout?

Bonnie, I lose a few sequins every time. :( Can't help it. But you shouldn't lose too many at a clip.

I would suggest that if you find a loose thread you tack it down. Once a thread loosens it starts a long strip going off.

Since this has become the HAL fashion thread, may I ask a question?

What do you think is suitable dress for dinner in the Pinnacle? Should it follow the dress code for the dining room that night? Should it always be formal? Informal? Never casual?

I really don't know the answer and would like some suggestions for my next trip. susan.

We never dress 'casual' casual when we go to the Pinnacle. DH 9 times out of 10 wears a jacket and tie or at the very least if it is a casual night he might wear a sport shirt, but ALWAYS a jacket.

I always dress at least what I would wear on an 'informal' night, which to me is super country club casual. Not a cocktail dress, but either a very nice dress, probably with jacket or shawl, or a dressy pant suit. I would never just wear anything extremely casual. Just think what you would wear to a very nice 4/5* restaurant at home.

Formal nights, of course, we would dress according to formal dress code.

I agree - somewhere between informal and formal.

Definitely coat & tie for him - dressy dress or pantsuit for her.

The atmosphere (furnishings, fixtures, china, etc.) is so formal at the Pinnacle, I would personally feel uncomfortable in anything more casual.

Hope this is helpful. :)

Thanks Heather, Sail and Stormy. I'm happy you like my Leiber. I really enjoy using it. It just makes the outfit. It is so very elegant.

It's funny though, when I first got it home and opened it, Emily was at my house and crying her little heart out. She was about 4 months old. She saw the bag and stopped crying immediatly. I think it was all of the sparkles. I also know she has good taste. A future fashionista!!

Now that I know how to do an attachment- here she is.

Linda :)
