IScubaSlo Posted May 5, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2005 Was wondering if it is within walking distance from Fairmont Hotel to the Riverwalk, Aquarium, casino?
Ka Honu Posted May 5, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2005 It's about 8-10 blocks. Easy walking distance to both but you might want to cab back (all that money and all those packages may be too much to carry).
Budget Queen Posted May 6, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 6, 2005 Yes - walking distance without any mobility limitations. :)
zydecocruiser Posted May 6, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2005 Since you will be there just before Mardi Gras, the parades will be a part-time mobility restriction. Long before your arrival the times and routes will be published so you can plan ahead.

cruzelovr Posted May 12, 2005 #7 Share Posted May 12, 2005 I stayed @ the Fairmont just last week and you can easily walk everywhere. I did it with a stroller and my 9 month old. We walked to Riverwalk (which is past the casino) and all over the french quarter... Down Decatur to Tower and Virgin Records, Cafe du Monde and Margaritaville. Bourbon Street. Down to Mulates restaurant near the cruise pier on Julia Street. It's an easy walk anywhere you'd want to go. Have fun...
IScubaSlo Posted May 12, 2005 Author #8 Share Posted May 12, 2005 Thanks Cruzelovr, nice to know everything is within walking distance. By the way, how was the Fairmont to stay at????? Cheryl
cruzelovr Posted May 13, 2005 #9 Share Posted May 13, 2005 Very nice place, for an older hotel. I was impressed. Room was on the small side, but there are larger rooms (saw the room of another of the conference attendees). But very clean and the cleaning staff does a good job. Front desk staff saw to it that the crib (a real mini crib, not a playpen) was promptly delivered to the room and a mini-fridge (for the baby's food/formula etc.) came shortly after. I'd stay there again for sure.
