Christmas cruise - Adventure of the Seas 2012 itinerary change Questions

Recommended Posts

We just received notification that our cruise over Christmas that was supposed to go to Aruba, St. Kitts, St. Thomas, and Curacao haas changed slightly. We were supposed to be at sea on Christmas day. Now, St. Kitts has been dropped, we have picked up St. Maarten for Christmas day. Has anyone ever had a cruise stop in a port on Christmas day? What about St. Maarten on Christmas day? The changes were due to berthing conflicts. We cannot change the cruise. We already have hotel and airfare. Two of the three cabins are paid. I am trying to get an idea what to expect. We will be traveling with DS 9 (at the time). TIA.

There is a seperate thread for this cruise where everyone is talking. This is the link. http://cruiseforums.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1451504

Basically St Maarten is shut on Christmas day. So it's a tour, stay on the ship or go to one of the many beaches. The port shops may be open, but that's it.

This is the original itinerary. St Marten is without a doubt better than St. Kitts. We found the beaches in St. kitts to be grainy as it is comprise of volcanic material. While the St Martens beaches are what the Carib beaches are supposed to In St Martens you have the Dutch and French sise to enjoy.

We are on this cruise as well......you should come and join our roll call! Much discussion about this and other things.

Anyway.....Everything will be closed in St.Maarten on Christmas Day. We have had this happen before and we were not happy with this. Your tours and the beaches will be open so that's not a problem. If shopping is your thing, then you are out of luck. The problem is going to be all those ships in port. The beaches will be outrageously crowded. I prefer a day at sea for Christmas Day.....but a beach day is pretty cool. If you can deal with the crowds, then there is no problem.

Hope to see you over on the roll call!
