Sauer-kraut Posted June 22, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 22, 2012 It depends on where you are coming from. You might want to read the brochure from Customs "Know Before You Go" http://www.cbp.gov/linkhandler/cgov/travel/vacation/kbyg/kbyg_regulations.ctt/kbyg_regulations.pdf Your answers will start on page 12. Wow apparently I didn't read this before our honeymoon last year. I declared some gifts we brought back from England for a total of under $200.00 and I didn't pay any duty when we arrived back in the US, but I did receive a post card tax form that I had to include when filing my taxes for the $200 worth of goods. Did I do something wrong or am I misinterpreting how this works?
DebJ14 Posted June 22, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 22, 2012 The amount of liquor also depends on the port of arrival. If you are a TX resident and coming back into Galveston you can only bring 1 bottle per person. Its a Texas law that Customs enforces for them. zqvol Posted June 22, 2012 #6 Share Posted June 22, 2012 What is the Amount/ quanity of items/alchohol can your bring back tax free On your Fantasy cruise you can bring back one liter - not bottle - duty free per person over the age of 21. Usually if you two or three customs waves you through with no duty charged. Even if you are charged it is only a dollar or two per bottle and the total is still much less than you pay here in North Carolina.
