Great review so far. Anxiously waiting for more. Will be on the Splendor in January for the first time and very excited.....so any details you can give all of us that are sailing her soon would be much appreciated. :):o

Hi there. You will have a great time; before I went i was a little worried about the size of the ship. You will get lost but that is ok and makes it fun. They have activities all over the ship and some of the stair and elevators don’t get you to the right floor where you need to be so depending on your room and where it is, as long as you can get to floor 5 you are ok as you can walk through the casino

We didn’t experience long waits for any of the meals or snacks or the activities the only wait was for using the equipment in the gym .

It took a long time to get the basketball as they only check out one at a time.

The room attendants are great. They bring you ice in the morning and in the afternoon and we had them empty the mini bar and placed the drinks we brought in there. They have lots of space in the closets and under the bed for storage.

We brought an over the door organizer for the bathroom and that made it more convenient as the bathroom is very small and not a lot of space they do have shelves in them.

the adult section of the ship with the pool/bar also where the Indian food and the Deli is located gets crowded fast so if that’s the area you want you want to go early on the sea days. Otherwise not too bad on Lido deck or the deck 11 is, there is the slide but there is the other side and not too bad with the younger kids.

Not worried about the size. We have already been on the mega ships the Oasis and the Allure. Sounds like the Splendor is set up a lot like the Glory. So glad to hear you liked everything and your great review is just getting me more excited to sail her. Thank you soooo much.:o

Thanks for the great review OP! We'll be on Splendor on Sunday and the closer it gets, the more the week just seems to crawl along :D

BTW, would you mind sharing a little info about the debarking process once you arrived back in long beach? i'm arranging to get picked up by a family member that day and have no idea what time they should expect us to be off the ship. TIA!

Return to the boat from Cabo day 1. After a fun filled day with our activities we got back to the boat and got ready for dinner. Tonight I was surprised we got my daughter to try the alligator appetizer and she liked it. We went to the lounge and saw the singer Tommy sings. He was very entertaining he tells lots of stories about the songs he writes. We then went into the main lounge and there was a duo doing old 70's music they were ok not great but not bad. We called it an early night as we wanted to get off the ship at 7 the next morning.

We woke up to go get the number so we could tender off the ship and head back to cabo. Today there were no numbers so you just had to wait on the 3rd floor for them to call and say the boat was secure for departure. Today took longer than the day before. Once they cleared we were able to head downstairs to exit, (I will say for these days take the stairs the elevators are so slow and full and it delays you.)

We got to the Marina and walked around for a while we had booked a tour and needed to wait about an hour for them to pick us up. So our family did a walk around town not too much was open at this time a few shops and the restaurants were all getting ready. We had about 15 minutes before the tour came to get us so we got our son Scott his first real Tequila Shot in Public as he is 18 and can drink in Mexico. Hubby and I had ours too. Then we loaded on the van to head out to swim with dolphins. We had booked the one in Los Cabos as it was cheaper than the one through the ship. We drove about 45 minutes away. I was surprised at the Military and police on the road about every 1/4 mile there was a guy with huge gun pointed at the road from a jeep or truck or just him standing there, I am not sure if this is normal security or if it was beefed up as the President Obama was coming the following week for a conference. There were lots of folks working on the streets as far as clean up so they were definitely getting ready.

Swimming with Dolphins.

We finally got to our destination. They give you a locker to use you have to give them an ID or 5 cash as a deposit and they will give it back at the end. you cannot bring your own camera you can have someone in your party not participate and take pics from the sitting area but you will definitely need a lens to zoom in. they break you down into smaller groups and they do a 15 minute instructional and use you all from the group to demonstrate how to work with the dolphins, then you get your life vest and you are off. you walk about 1/4 mile down to the water and the have it broken into 3 different areas we had 8 in our group. Four for our family and another family of 4. We got in the water and it was very slippery when you walk on the step. We then got to meet our dolphin her name was Ariel and she was 13. She was so beautiful and friendly. We spent about 50 minutes in the water with her. We got to kiss her, get a kiss from her. Shake her fins, ride on her belly. Ride on a boogie board and she pushes you forward by her nose on your toe. You get to hold her. Dance with her. the group we were with the mom didn’t swim so they had another trainer come and she helped her swim and connect with the dolphin, I thought that was a great added feature for those who want to do this but not comfortable in the water. the only down thing to this is you have to buy the pictures they took it was 25.00 per picture or a cd for 109.00 but the CD had about 80 pics and we got the CD right then and there.

We then headed back to Cabo did some shopping and had lunch Scott had his first beer and liked it, we had great food and drinks and saw a guy who had caught a huge fish. They had singers who came and sang to the kids. Then we headed back to the ship got cleaned up and had dinner. And tonight we just hung on the lido deck had some drinks and snacks and watched a movie.

Hi Tom,

on the last night at sea they give you your debarking luggage tags and number we had a very high number and since there were 4 of us we decided to skip putting our bags out the night before and just carry ours off. we were ready to go at 8 am so we grabbed our stuff and headed down to the 3rd floor got in a line and was off the ship in 15 minutes.

we had friends that did the debarking and it took them until close to 1030 to get off the ship and another hour for their luggage. if you can carry your stuff off that is the way to go!

Thank you for your gentle reminder. I shall be more careful in the future. If I offended the OP, such was not my intent. I had the funny picture in my mind of people loading up on Pavorotti and being ferried in and wanted to share it. Obviously I failed to share the humor.

Again my apologies to the OP. Thank you for taking your time to post your review and share your experiences with us.

Enjoy,

Ron

Wow, some seriously uptight people on this board. Anyhow, I appreciated the humor and thought you presented it in a nice way. The apology was also a nice touch.

Hi there OP...

We are also parasailing in Cabo... Can you tell me how you liked it? Did you feel safe? ( Im not worried about Mexico and crime and stuff.. more worried about how safe the harness felt... did the operators of the boat speak english etc. )

It was amazing! You get a life vest and a harness that goes around your legs. ( now my daughter work a lycra shorts that were swim suits) don’t wear the lycra when you do this the harness rode up on her and she got very bruised, folks told her they were Mexican tattoos.

You sit on the boat and they connect your harness and then this rope starts to unwind and up you go, it’s very slow. Very peaceful up there you cannot imagine how quiet it is. If the wind comes you switch your body to the other side to balance out. I felt very safe and I am afraid of heights. Yes the folks on the boat we did spoke English. When you come to land you land right back on the boat in sitting motion.

Puerta Vallerta day.

This morning we woke up and had breakfast by the pool. This day we didn’t have to take any boats we just got off the boat and headed to town. We had to take a cab to get the transportation to our tour. We decided to walk around a little bit and check out the sites. We saw the Wal-Mart that the crew had joked about and folks on the board had talked about stocking up on items, we didn’t go there. When we were walking around a security guy called us over and showed us a water iguana and gave him a flower to eat. We then grabbed a cab to our location and laughed as it was only about mile which we could have walked if it hadn’t been so darn humid. I am used to a dry heat. And having natural curls I was beginning to look like a chia Pet L. Our trip was about 45 minutes the driver stopped at a store and we were able to get drinks and snacks, he pointed out things along the way. We went through some little towns makes you appreciate what we have back home, our kids were shocked by the size and how run down they were. It was good for them to see how others live they get so caught up in their stuff they don’t know what they have. Once we got to our destination we had a check in and then we got lockers to put all our stuff in, they fit you with helmets and strap on the harnesses, there were 5 guys they were very personable and joke around with you. They get your gloves then tell you to wait for the safety instruction.

We had Danielo do our safety he shows you how to get connected he tells you they will tell you to do the captain Morgan for men and the sexy leg for girls. He shows you how to brake and what happens if you get stuck and they do some funny examples. Then they take a group photo and you are off. They give you the metal gear which is what you hold onto and brake with, then you go and hike and go up hill and climb up into trees, the metal piece you have adds about 20 pounds to your hip and you are off. There were 5 practice zip lines the first one is very short and they have a photographer take your photo which they sell at the end of the trip. At every zip line they have someone who connects you with that Sexy Leg saying and someone there to catch you at the other end and unhook you. After the first 5 then you go to the fastest zip and the longest zip and some that go over the water. The views are incredible. Pac Man took video the whole time and he will sneak behind you and go down with you and you hang upside down, He MADE me do it and as scared of heights as I am I loved it. My daughter got her finger sliced open and he took good care of her by cleaning it right away and sealing it up. All of us were able to get filmed and all of us were able to go upside down. There were about 30 of us in the group and it moved quickly to go onto the next zip line, how the crew was able to get back to us to go with another person or to be at the next zip is beyond me. there was an lady that was 82 years old who did this tour with no issues with the hike, the climbing or the heat. At the end you race down one of the folks in your party, I beat my hubby of course. After all the zip lining they have a some animals there 2 dogs some monkeys, a snake, some other reptiles and some deer. They had a creek and the boys went and did the rope jumping into the water and did some rock sliding, they had a tequila testing at the bar and they do try to sell you some of their tequila. We then had a margarita and shared some Nachos and Cheese Crisp. Then we headed back they asked if we wanted to be dropped off at the boat or downtown we chose the downtown destination as we had a late time we were due back to the ship. By far the zip line was my families favorite part of the trip they loved the thrill and the personalities of the crew made the trip and the experience lots of fun. they let you bring your own camera or video camera which was a great thing, we also bought his video as he had captured us all going upside down and when he scared us in the bushes.
