Bev Posted July 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2012 Hi DH and I are cruising on the Jewel of the Seas at the end of August and we'll be taking the ship's transfer from Heathrow. We're wondering if there are any wine stores at or close to the pier. Thanks for your help with this! Bev
Ashland Posted July 15, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 15, 2012 Hi DH and I are cruising on the Jewel of the Seas at the end of August and we'll be taking the ship's transfer from Heathrow. We're wondering if there are any wine stores at or close to the pier. Thanks for your help with this! Bev We sailed on the JOS and have used the RCI bus transfer from Heathrow-Harwich...You are dropped off right at the door of the Harwich terminal...inside the port and no stores are really near by...Not that you're going to be able to bring on wine anyway...However the bus will be stopping at a rest area midway enroute where there are several stores in a small indoor mall type shopping center...Good luck and enjoy this amazing cruise....so far one of our favorites !!!! Rare insidecabin Posted July 15, 2012 #4 Share Posted July 15, 2012 There is a Morrisons a 10-15min walk just outside the port area. A taxi dropping someone off might do a deal. http://www.morrisons.co.uk google puts it in the wrong place I think there are new(ish) roads. link to a walking route from the ship http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Unknown+road&daddr=Unknown+road&hl=en&ll=51.943762,1.258192&spn=0.011428,0.025835&sll=51.942538,1.253834&sspn=0.011323,0.025835&geocode=FX6mGAMdVTITAA%3BFYSNGAMdJDwTAA&dirflg=w&mra=dme&mrsp=1&sz=15&t=h&z=
handfordr Posted July 15, 2012 #5 Share Posted July 15, 2012 As above there is a large Morrisons Superstore at the port entrance. Its one of those frustrating things where you can see the ship about half a mile away from the store but the road loop about half a mile in distance. There is a local bus from the railway station by the cruise terminal to Morrison's
