First time I went back to So. IL for the holidays, I kept thinking something was off, and it finally dawned on me - it was the mountains that surround Anchorage - these are the Chugach Mountains, that were missing from my usual daily view.

Thanks again Susan. I built my house in Texas on top of a mesa. Not a mountain but it helps. The Alaska views are something I miss very much.

 

Oddly many folks who brave the drive up to my house are very uncomfortable with the drive and the 'altitude' when they finally arrive. It's a mesa. A fit person with good shoes can hike top to bottom in about 30 minutes.

 

Of course on the mesa and all the view is beige!
