NCL Cat. OK (obstructed OV) cabins

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any pictures of any of the accessible category OK (obstructed OV), lengthwise layout, aft, on the Gem, Jade, Jewel, Dawn, Star or Pearl? I believe all these cabins are the same configuration. We may have run into a little problem and require a roll-away cot, thus space would become a serious issue. We know to have non-essential furniture removed, but with two scooters and a POC, there is usually not excessive space left over. The bathroom is not an issue.

We are currently booked in cabin 8598 on the Jade and the upper bunk may not work.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

i do not have pics but stayed in one on the dawn last month. the scooter took up the area in front of the vanity which was in an alcove next to the bathroom. there is an unmovable piece of furn to hold the tv that leaves barely enough space to get to the side of the bed. another scooter would not be able to turn around. a cot MIGHT fit in the space in front of the door but no floorspace left ad no access to bathroom door. feel free to ask more questions. the folkd down bed would have made it impossible for a person on the reg bed to exit from the side.

We also stayed in these cabins. They are the smallest HC cabins we have ever had. Forget about a roll away. No room for it. We had the room steward take out the table and chairs from the cabin so we could move in the cabin. All we had him leave was the beds and TV. The insides and balcony HC cabins on these ships are much larger.

Thank you for the information. Wasn't what we were hoping for, but we now know what to expect and really appreciate your input.

Sounds like we will have 11 days of togetherness. Maybe we can give her a boost into the upper bunk if she needs help. One of the things that attracted us to this area was the nearby restrooms. With three senior ladies that can be an important factor.

Fortunately, we do not spend much time in the cabin, basically a place to shower and sleep. We do not use the scooters in the cabin, so it will just be a matter of securing them on an edge or in a corner. And the POC is not very big.

Up-date: We managed to switch to an inside (11147), 75 square feet larger and it has a sofa bed, thus no ladder climbing required and all devices will fit.

I think you are doing the right thing. The insides are so much larger. Those outsides really shouldn't be HC cabins.
