Pics of my Conquest Cruise 9/2010

Hello. This was my husband's and I first cruise! A local radio station hosted this cruise. I think there were about 50 of us that all went from the area. We all traveled to Galveston seperately and met up on the ship for certain events. It was fun. This was a 7 day cruise to Montego Bay, Grand Caymen, and Cozumel. Our close friends went with us on this trip and their parents. These same friends are going with us this weekend on our upcoming cruise on Magic!

We arrived the day before our ship sailed and stayed at the Best Western Beach Inn. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel. We paid $150 to stay in a dump!!!! There was blood on our curtains and the bedspread. I was horrified to think we might get bed bugs. Our view was of the cemetary. The beds were awful and it was just dumpy. The pool was green!!!! I am a Priceline girl and am used to staying in 3 1/2 star hotels for maybe $75 a night. Since Galveston is a small island, Priceline wasn't a great option. This was just nasty... but we made the most of our 1 night there. (Thank God it was only 1 night!!)

The next morning we got up, ate breakfast, and headed to the EZ Cruise Parkinglot. Our friends' parents drove us. There we dropped off the car and boarded the shuttle. I was so surprised at how smooth everything went. As soon as we got to the port, there were porters helping us out of the shuttle and taking our luggage for us.

We went through the check in process with ease. I believe we were on the ship by noon. Once we were on board, I was in absolute AWE!!! The atrium was bustling with excitement and I was just awe struck. A cocktail server greeted us with drinks. I stupidly thought, "how nice... they are welcoming us with drinks." We took our drinks and they took our Sign and Sail card. LOL!

We headed to the Lido deck for lunch and to explore our new home!!!

Driving to the port, we see her!!!

Playing around!

Soon we got to go find our cabins. We had a balcony room near the front of the ship on the 8th deck. This was fantastic!! Our friends were 2 doors down from us. The folks in between us were there with the radio station too. We didn't know them but became great friends on this cruise!!

Here are my friends 2 doors down!

Looking towards the front... I loved that we could see the bridge!

After unpacking and such, it was time for muster. This is the only complaint I have with our cruise. Muster was excruciating!!!! We met down where the life boats are. I believe the entire ship was crammed on that deck. It was unbearably hot and humid and we were literally standing on top of one another. There was no breeze what so ever and the drill took about 20 minutes or more. The other side of the deck got to leave first and we had to continue to wait. It about made me sick. A year later, I was dreading the muster on Ecstasy remembering how much I hated it on Conquest... but it was much quicker on Ecstasy and we were on top decks with air flow. I pray Magic's muster isn't as bad but I know that it might be since the life boats are down below too. BLEH!

Time for sail away........ and AIR!

Adios Galveston, hello fun!

Here is my DH with our radio station folks. The blonde next to my hubby is a dj and so is the man. We became good friends with the blonde. That radio station is on cruise this week on Magic! We missed going with them as they wanted to do the Eastern Carribean and we wanted to do the exotic Western to Belize.

The thing I came to love on this cruise was walking into my cabin after dinner to see our towel animal and our bed turned down. Wow, I was spoiled fast! I asked hubby if he could continue with that once we got home. (It didn't happen.)

That day we went to the Spa seminar. The blonde DJ won a free facial!! I booked a massage for the next day. At this point, my husband was being silly and speaking with an Australian accent. He got embarrassed when one of the staff spoke to him in her Australian accent like she knew where he was from and had something in common. HA HA HA!!! Little did she know that he was just a hick from West Texas. Yee haw!

On this particular cruise, we went to all the jewelry and shopping seminars. I won a pearl necklace!! I was excited to learn about where to shop and get those charms for my charm bracelet. Well that bracelet and those charms were junk. I won't waste my time on those seminars anymore or hunting down DI stores while in port. Just saying!

The next day, was my massage. It was absolutely heavenly. Literally, I thought I had died and gone to Heaven. It was amazing. Of course, once it was over... I was suckered into buying a bunch of stuff I absolutely needed yet have never used. LOL. Those aren't massage therapists, they are salesmen!

After lunch, my friend and I hit the pool. Our hubbies went to play mini golf. I really loved the Caribbean band and just the excitement of it all.

Of course it was Monday night and that meant Monday Night Football. This is where we ended up to cheer on the Cowboys.

After the game, we went to the comedy club. I can't remember the name but it was funny. We ended up going to all the comedy shows this week and maybe 2 big shows. I wish I had gone to more.

After the late comedy show, I was EXHAUSTED. We returned to the room where our towel animal greeted us.

Tuesday was our 2nd sea day. I didn't get many pictures this day. The water was choppy and I didn't feel that well. I never got sick or anything but that day I just felt blah! We had a cocktail party with the radio station for one hour that afternoon. I left it early to return to my cabin for a nap. I was also a bit home sick and missing my kids terribly. I hated not getting to talk to them.

Wednesday, we woke up in Montego Bay!! I was so excited because I had planned to call my babies later in the day when they got home from school!!!!!

We had an excursion through Carnival where we took a Catamaran. Most of the radio station folks went too. We did some snorkeling and finished our tour at Margaritaville!! This was a very fun excursion. It was crazy to me how the planes kept flying in over our head as we were snorkeling. ACK! I had never snorkeled before and was impressed with what I saw. I'd later go snorkeling in Cozumel which blew this snorkel experience out of the water.

My goodness, it was humid!!

We took a shuttle back to our ship which gave us a glimpse of Montego Bay. Its a poor area and some places looked very scary. We were warned to be ware of the locals.

Once we arrived back to our ship, I called my kids. It was so wonderful to hear their voices and know that all was well at home.

That evening, I finally remembered to take pictures in the MDR. It was a beautiful dining room and our table was next to a huge picture window. The food was excellent all week as well as the service. I got very spoiled.

We went to the casino after dinner. We didn't have an excursion planned for the next day in Grand Caymen. I sat down at a quarter slot machine and won $200!! We cashed out and went to the excursion desk. We booked an excursion with my winnings!!

Thursday we were in Grand Caymen. It also happened to be our 10 year wedding anniversary!!!

Our last minute excursion we chose was the sting ray experience and Rum Point Beach. This was amazing!!!! All our friends had chosen a dolphin experience. I was worried we were missing out as their excursion was sold out. I can't believe this wasn't sold out. Loved it!! I was truly amazed at the color of the water here!!!

Goodbye to our friends...
