Sensation Quick Review 10/21-10/25

I didn't find many reviews or perspectives when I booked. What I did find was fairly negative. I learned long ago to read reviews for information not opinions.

We had very limited expectations for this cruise. It was a quick get away for a couple desperate for some relaxation and re-energizing. We got it! It was perfect for what we wanted. We booked only a few weeks in advance and got a CHEAP fare for an inside guarantee. We were on the veranda deck, which I believe is the perfect location. Supposedly, we were under the gym. Either we didn't hear anything or no one was in the gym/spa.

We chose anytime dining. We were seated with Colin (waiter) and Samuel (assistant) the first night. We requested them every night. A little side note, I have cruised several times and always enjoyed the wait staff. I could never tell you the names until I met these two. Colin especially has a special gift and Carnival is lucky to have him. The food was hot and prompt. All we ask for. The lobster was the best I have had on a cruise.

Freeport was laid back and fabulous. We cabbed over to Lucaya. Walked around for a bit. Stopped at the casino for a bathroom break. Walked down by police station and out to the beach. Water was perfect and beach was heavenly. We walked back through Grand Lucaya and saw them turning people away from accessing the beach.

Nassau was cloudy when we arrived. Our original plan was to beach it for the afternoon and return to the ship to shower. We knew we wanted to go to the Atlantis for the evening. Since it was windy and cloudy we decided to walk around for awhile and then head over to Atlantis. DON"T take the water taxi if you can't or don't want to walk to the hotel. It's a hike and uphill from the drop off. The taxis are easy and drop off at the hotel. $4/pp each way. Atlantis is awesome. Not sure if I would want to stay as it is pricey. We are casino lovers and really enjoyed the dealers/pit bosses/waitstaff. Oh, we left ahead so that helps.

We didn't do any games, auctions, bingo or whatever else there was. We saw one show and it was ok but repetitive without a story line. The boat was really rocking the last night as the storm was coming up from the south. Overall, we give it an A. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I was on Sensation a couple of years ago as my first cruise. Loved the Serenity area. Enjoyed the ship. She was rocking pretty good in a regular February storm when I was on her. I bet she was rocking that last night racing back ahead of Sandy.

Thank you! We are doing this cruise in February and booked v8. Is there an exit to the outside deck nearby? Did you hang out much on the Serenity deck?

Pretty sure you can exit and walk all the way aft on Veranda to the Waterworks area. Serenity is two decks down on the aft stairwells. I think I spent about 12 hours in the Serenity area either in hot tub or in one of the chairs. Wait staff did an excellent job of taking care of me when I was there. I do wish it would have been opened later. Shut down the hot tubs and service around 10:30-11:00ish if I remember correctly.

Didn't keep the Fun times but seem to remember that the 1st night Camp Carnival stuff is around 7pm. Easy to have dinner before or after. We were in V8! The funny thing is the exit is right by the room and I looked at it every day. Never went thru the door. We would just go to the center and down a floor to the main pool. We did spend sail away at serenity. I don't do well watching the water. Queasy. What time we did spend by the pool which was only Wednesday we lounged and the Veranda deck looking at the life boats. What a bad design.
