I thought it was only 21 too, thought maybe it is 18 until a certain time.

But I think 21 due to the drinking and all.

I just remember younger people being carded on my last cruise and the young girls complaining.....their annoyance made me glad they could not allowed in.

From Carnival's FAQs:

Lounges, shows, and the dance club: Guests under the age of 18 should be accompanied by an adult in all public areas of the ship. Guests under the age of 18 must vacate the dance club by 10:00pm. Guests under the age of 18 may not attend the Midnight Shows comedy shows as they are for adults only. (18 and older)

On the Triumph in October it was 18. They were very strict about it too. There was a girl who's 18th birthday was the next day and they wouldn't let her in at 11:30!

Not sure they would ever let her in.

People have told if someone turning 21 on the cruise but not bring allowed to drink.

So if you turn 21 mid-cruise, you can't drink after your bday? Seems a bit strange.

Well they let her in the next night and she stayed until about 1. It was the same guy working the door all 4 nights too.

It is absolutely 18. 100% sure of it. Many older people don't like it and wish it were 21 or 30 or 50, but it is 18. One of the 18-year olds that cruised with us on the Triumph a couple weeks ago went with me to the dance club. They may check IDs. Some are more strict than others. You could be 45, but if you look about 35, they may ask for your ID. The only thing 18-20 year olds cannot do that over-21s can do is drink alcohol. 18-year olds are allowed to gamble & get into the adult comedy shows as well. Both of our 18-year olds did those.

That's the part I don't get, checking ID's. Wouldn't the age of the person be indicated somehow on their S&S card when scanned ?

In April, we are taking my son and his college roommate, who will both be 21. Should they now also carry their Driver's License with them in addition to thier S&S card? If they do not, then what does this mean, a trek back to the cabin safe to retrieve it ?

Not complaining, just wondering how this works.

The security guard at the door to the dance club does not have a scanner for the S&S card, so yes, the drivers license or other photo ID would be needed. If they don't have it on them and the security guard is strict, then yes, that will mean a trek back to the cabin.

I would get the kids to carry it around anyways-- just remember not to get holes punched in those as it would make them invalid.

they would need it for the clubs and casino.
